TWINKIES AND ROOT BEER.

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to get where God lived, so he packedhis suitcase with twinkies and a six-pack of root beer and started on his journey

When he had gone about six blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons.

The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.

The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at the boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.

Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he wasand he got up to leave, but before he had gone a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man and gave him a big hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied,"I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, " You know what? " God's got the most beautiful smile I have ever seen."

Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked,"Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"

He replied,"I ate twinkies in the park with God." Howver before his son responded, he added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected."

You know, too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, a  small compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season or a life time. Embrace all equally.

When I was a young girl of 19, I had my first child.   I made a poor choice on choosing a mate.  This man refused to marry me (well, until later) and also refused to work.   I went to the welfare office, so ashamed to take my beautifully wrapped baby girl into the shabby welfare office.   This little toothless man walked up to me and said "Are you poor?".   I looked at him wanting to be respectful but scared all the same.  "Yes, thats why Im here, sir".   He looked at my baby and said "You have a million dollars in your arms, don't ever forget that" and he walked away.  I have reflected on that experience so many times in my life and whenever we couldn't quite make rent or a power bill Id look at my daughter and know that that didn't make me "poor".

I think there are angels/spirt guides who walk among us.

I bought a new truck about 2 months ago. It has lots of gadgets I needed to get used to.
Last week about 11:00 pm, I was going out and I stopped at an ATM to take out some cash. It was in a strip shopping center. So, I pull up to the curb and get out of my truck with my wallet and get the cash. I left my truck running.I go back to my truck and find out that the security system locks the doors after a few minutes.I'm locked out with the truck running and not a soul in sight. Cell phone is in truck. I walked to a gas station 2 blocks away where there were not one, but two police cars.I thought BEAUTIFUL ~~~~~Not.
I asked them to please give me a ride home, about 2 miles away or please call me a cab. I was stunned when they told me it was against policy to give me a ride and if they called me a cab then one of them would have to stay and watch my truck. And of course they were to busy to do that.(rolling eyes). So, they called road service for me, which would be about an hour or so. Now I am sitting on the curb waiting for road service. About 15 minutes later, two ladies pull up and ask " whats wrong, is the ATM broken?" I explain what happened. I could not believe what they did. One lady stayed with my truck and the other drove me home to get my spare key. I of course offered her money and anything else I could think of. She said " what I would like you to do for me is, one day do something nice for someone that you don't know, just to be nice.
I will never forget those two ladies.

I'm wondering how we react to kindness. Does anyone here recall a moment of kindness that was offered to you by a stranger? If so, how did you respond and how did it make you feel?
