**Valentines Day Question**

**Valentines Day Question**

Okay....So, ladies and Gents.  What do think about Valentines Day?.  My husband always bitched at me because he  wanted a gift.  I told him Valentines Day is a day for the Man to appreciate the woman and if he's lucky .....she will appreciate him back.  I personally don't like Valentines Day........

Am I right, and was he wrong or neither?.......

LOL!!!!

I personally believe people should show love to each other every single day not just on Valentine's Day!  My hubby and I typically do not celebrate it.  But, he treats me that way all year long!  :)

Love,

Realistically.....I Valentines Day a day for a man to buy a woman a gift or whatever.  I just never heard from any of my girls that they are buying there husband or boyfriend a lawn mower for Valentines Day......My husband soon to be X~~~wanted some kind of electronic gift or whatever?  I always felt that this is a day that a "man" does the giving.

Is Valentines Day a day for a Man to give  something to the woman? or both?...I need answers people!!!!.......Don't make me go to AskMoses *com.....

Personally, Valentine'd Day to me is for people who love each other to give each other something whether it be a gift or some extra time.  Like I said above, Tom and I don't feel it's necessary to do anything for Valentine's since we treat each other that way all year long.  But, I do tend to get Tom a card.  I am sending Valentine cards out to my family members this year for some reason!  I just want to let them all know that I love them.

Anyway, I think it goes both ways.

Love ya!

arggggg.......Looks like i am not going to get an answer.  I am talking REALISTICALLY !! THE way the world is not what you think it should be.......Most of us are puppets in this world and do things because we feel we are suppose to.....like Christmas, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, etc.

I think Valentines Day is designed for a man to give the gift, not the woman...not my personal opinion, just the way the world sees it........I don't know.....grrrrrr  this was a huge argument I had with the hubby and always wondered if I was wrong...I guess I'll never know.......thanks anyway guys........

I'm sorry hun, but I do believe it goes both ways.  Of course, that's my opinion.  Perhaps Valentine's Day was designed originally the way you describe, but I've never heard that.  Maybe we should look it up online somewhere!

I looked online but couldn't find anything specific to men only.  But here are a couple of interesting history lessons online about Valentine's Day.  I never knew . . .

http://inventors.about.com/od/articlesandresources/a/Valentine_Day.htm

I find it interesting that this article states that more than 85% of valentines are purchased by women.

Oops the second article didn't copy over - I'll find it and repost the link - because that's the article that mentions that 85% of women purchase valentines.

I hate Valenine's day.  I usually do the flowers and or Candy and dinner..a couple years ago my wife suprised me with a romantic package at a local hotel nearby..dinner, wine a couple drinks..we go back to the room for  some post meal shenaniagans...and she falls fast asleep.

I'll not publicize my location when I realized that was the case.

I'm sorta w/Nauty's comment.

What the heck do you give a man that is Valentinesy?

There were a couple of Valentines that I got they guy a gift, and that was awkward.  Christmas and BD's are hard enough.

So women, if you give to your men, give examples of what kind of gifts.

I always got my x a card and he would get me a card and a half eaten box of chocolates. lol   One year he bought me a sewing machine for Valentines. That was probably one of the best gifts he ever got me. (good if you like to sew and I do)

I agree with nauty and enemy, I would like to hear some of those examples also..I do try to make it a romantic night get some sexy launderae(spelling) and try to spice up the bedroom,I didint even really get him anything for christmas I deffinetly wouldint know what to get him for val day..he buys him self pretty much what ever he wants.

See above, meet your man at the door with only a drink and a smile. I would bet if he did forget Valentines day he won't do it again, as long as you don't beatch at him, and he might even make sure he knows what you want and will do and get you more.
Blank
611067_tn?1279065256
I think giving him your time with sexy nighties and spicing things up a bit would probably be well recepted.  LOL!!!  But, that's a part of giving something to your man too.  It does not have to be an actual present.  Of course, if he makes mention of something he might want like a good book, some music, etc. that would be nice too.  I know for me I have even booked a room at a hotel for one night as my gift.
Blank
340590_tn?1290955741
i do things like janet mentioned...a hotel room...make reservations at a nice hotel and get a gift certificate so the bill is paid.  once i got us both messages at a spa....gotta admit it was not his favorite gift, but i loved it.  lol

Yeah I could see that Cathy, my wife wanted both of us to get a massage on a cruise, two images popped in my mind, some big dude fondling me where a dude shouldn't fondle me and a good looking chick doing the same and causing, um, embarrassment.

With that said, if she was to buy some massage oil and get a “how to” book from the library and say I’ll do you if you do me, well that could be fun.

Mary.......Lmao!!!!   Half eaten box of candy. I had a friend who told me the exact same thing.......they have been married forever so "valentines day" HUH?..........

Ladies......If you had a boyfriend and he did not acknowledge you on Valentines Day...you would be Pi$$ed and you know it.  Someone has to take charge on this day and I think its the guy.....what?.....you both gonna make dinner plans at different places at the same time?......Who makes out in the flower shops?......I can bet 99% of those flowers are purchased by men?

Valentines Day is not a Holiday, so someone has to take charge, and to the above poster.......I think you hit the nail on the head.......its a day to get laid if your lucky.  I think it was designed for married couples to ensure the man gets it at least once a year......as long as he comes with something special or a gift......lol.   I think I just got it.....St. Valentine is a PIMP.......LMao!!!!!

my hubby always said Valentine's day was made up by hallmark just so men would have to spend extra money on their wifes...I alway just give him a card, or if my gift is really nice,,,myself...lmfao...so nauty I don't know exactly what a woman would get her hubby that is Valentiney except a card, or you in a sexy nighty meeting him at the door., my luck he would bring home a friend that night. lol

I view Valentine's Day  much  like Halloween.....  I think it is a great holiday  and so much fun,  but  for children.   For me,  not so much!    Remember how fun it was to make those big ole hearts made out of construction paper than we hung on the wall or our desk in the classroom?  Or the embarassment when the boy that hit you with the soccer ball  also gave you the biggest Valentine card from his batman collection?  I remeber Valentine's day with great memories from my childhood   and when watching my children, hearing their laughter of going thru their cards with their friends.

And besides I am too high maintenance....ordering me flowers is a gift I don't like.....way too easy  and no imagination.

I love the holiday to be celebrated with the innocense of children.

I am pretty sure the teachers made you  bring Valentines for everyone in your class.......now perhaps yours were too small to see,  but I am sure they were in there  somewhere.......oops  unless you had a hissy fit on the way back to your desk and they fell out!!    hahahaha

Not that I would say or even think for a minute you were a sassy   ***  little girl at school   but you seriously never had the tether ball whacked along your head,  or the red "play ground ball" bounced off your legs,  or thrown at your back?   OMG  could it be that I was more mean than you??!!   And gosh  I thought that meant those dirty little boys had a crush on me!!   Well back to Valentine's Day,  they were the ones that gave me the biggest cheap "card from the box"!      And all this time they just felt guilty??

Now I am depressed!!

OMG...If I see one more commerical about those Vermont Bears I'm gonna scream...who wants a bear that cost $80.00, take me to dinner or give me a card...I would kill my hubby for that, go to Walmart where they are $10.00.....

Funny you bring that up, ScaredMom.........I have noticed this year that there is no barrage of ...."show your love with a diamond" Kay Jewelers.......No "show your love with a car, boat, truck, bus.......whatever???  I find that very interesting......Not even a Hallmark commercial.......I think something is changing, and maybe for the better....OBAMA !!!

I was watching the news and hearing stories of people selling their precious heirlooms, jewelry, wedding rings etc. to pay their bills.......so sad....  I was amazed to see one of the Major Floral Empires offering to give you a deal if you bring your own vase, or they are making flowers in popsicle stick vases....lol....anyway as I type this .....am I thinking of this right, or is this a tricky marketing ploy for them?? I dunno, but i have not seen one commercial for anything .......

One really cool thing here is some jeweler in LA if you show proof that you recently lost your job.....he will give you a free diamond heart necklace w/ bracelet ....he has like 400 of them, now that's really cool........

Errrr......If I see one more commercial for the "Slap-Chop" Oiy......I want to kill that guy and I don't love his nuts.....lol..........anyone see this one.........ahhhhhhhh.  I want to put his face in the "Slap-Chop".....Martini, bikini......

you're right... ORIGINALLY, Vday was for a man to buy gifts for his wife or GF... but as the years go by, I believe that things have changed and it it now expected for both parties to buy gifts for each other. I HATE consumerism, so I've told my man he is no longer to buy me Vday gifts; he has to make me something instead, hehe....

He treats me wonderfully all year long. I don't need a date on the calendar to tell me so... other than maybe our Anniversary date, LOL

Take care

I Hate Valentines day...I have been with my husband for 15 years and he never did anything on V-day....Except for when he cheated on me and did all kinds of special things for his new playtoy...Now just hearing the word Valentines Day makes me physically sick to my stomach. I will say one thing though...He better kiss my a** BIG TIME this year and I better see some diamonds and gold tomorrow.

There is a jewlery company here in Indy that is giving away silver heart lockets with chains (they are really pretty) to anyone who has either lost their job or their homes...so that is really sweet...But I still can't stand the day..lol...

Valentine's Day is for both man and woman. It is a day when you reaffirm your love and commitment to each other. It doesn't require a myriad if gifts. It requires that you show an appreciation for each other that you may have forgotten due to the ups and downs of life in the workshop and the home. We tend to forget to show how much we love each other. The women especiaklly need that peck on the cheek or the smile with the words,"I love you,"  It doesn't take any effort to say or do these things and requires just a moment or two. I myself tend to forget but whan I realize this I am quick to reach out with a hug and a kiss and the words ,"I love you." the smile and the strong hug I receive in return is worth the effort. Siiting on the couch reach out and hold her hand. All I want in return is that smile that tells me I am still number one in her book.
