What Fantasy World Would You Pick?

Here's a variation on a theme;


If you could pick ONE fantasy world to live in, from a book or a movie or book... what would it be?

I'm doing this as two separate questions (yes, cheating a bit).


Part 1: Keep in mind this is assuming you are "you". So you'd be rising or failing in that world according to the merits of your own character and abilities.
(So pick carefully.  I think my life expectancy in the world of "the Lensman Universe" would be about 3 minutes).


Part 2: You get to pick the powers/ rank that would make it an ideal world for you.

Please note that periods in history do count as "Fictional worlds" in this case.


This is a tough one for me. So many worlds... I may change my answers later;

I'm going to pick Donaldson's "The Land" from the Thomas Covenant series for the first.  A world of magical health and beauty with a clear cut, uncompromising evil force appeals to my sense of stark reality.

For the second I'll go with the Marvel Comics world of Superheroes.

My Power would be...

the power of disbelief!!

All I'd have to do is look at some flying, tights wearing hero or villain and say;

"Well THAT'S not possible!"

And they'd instantly lose their special abilities. :->

Frist it would be the Land of ORK where Mork came from I lkied his abilities he had, and made everything funny. My Second would have to be my life before addiction I had it all then HAPPINESS!!! and at one time the abillity to eat just one!!

I would like to be Dagny in "Atlas Shrugged" by Ann Rynd.........    That book truly had a profound impact on me, my values and my life.  A strong woman, successful,  with an incredible witt and the ability to love unconditonally due to determined confidence........

The Great Gasby,  or The Godfather  or In Cold Blood  or The Taming of the Screw   or Much  Ado About Nothing..........  obviously I live my dreams/fantasies/escapes thru books! So very many to choose from.....and so very hard to list just a few!!

Hey, just remember the 70's had a recession as well, despite all that fabulous fun polyester! If we're doing 70's T.V. shows I'd want to be Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man.

If you wanted to be Truman Capote, then I could definitely go with that. Maybe hanging out with Warhol and his crazies as well. Hmmm

Jollyman, I'd go with that or "Battle of Evermore".

Eagle... are we having visions of Tarzan swinging through the trees? Moonlight trysts with Jane? ;->

Mary... surely there's SOME world you can pick. Or a time. How about Anne Rice? Hang with Lestat in New Orleans? Or ride with ken Kasey on his magic bus during the sixties?
Ride with the Hells Angel's from their famous movie? Or perhaps stephen King's "The Stand". A chance at a new world, with 98% of the population gone. All those empty department stores with stuff just for the taking!!!

Ewwww "The Stand"  I loved that book and movie too. That would be exciting, but couldn't handle cleaning up all the dead bodies.

ok this is going to sound crazy, but i would love to be a witch in from the harry potter books!!! i know the books are aimed at kids, but if you read them, even adults can be transported into a world of magic and wonder, i love reading them!! ok i bet you all think i am nuts now lol

We could just hide out in the mountains for that first year and let nature do it's work. I still can't get over the idea that a pyromaniac is one of the few survivors. What was the first thing he did? Burn down the state of Pennsylvania?!?!


Those Harry Potter books are a great fantasy world. I could definitely get behind that one.  Being a witch could definitely have it's advantages. No more doing household chores. Just cast a spell (on third load of laundry here...argh)
