Which forum can I use to explain my symptoms & get help?

Can someone direct me to a forum here that may help me understand why out of the blue, I've got pain on the left side of my mid to low back?  It is not spinal.  I know that kind of pain. (I had back surgery)

This just started about 2 hours ago w/a mild pain in that area.  Since it has increased and is not traveling.  If it gets worse I'm going to the ER.  But for now, I'd like to see if someone can explain what may be causing this.

Thanks guys.

Avisg~

I just knew you'd be the first to respond.  Thank you.

My daughter is going to bring me to ER, but it will be a couple of hours.

I thought I could maybe get an idea of what may be happening in the meantime.

It's increasing and just weird because it just came on me out of nowhere.

Any forums that you know of that I can read up on this symptom?

I am not a doctor lol, so this is just my opinon...A while back I had pain also , seems like the same area as you...If i were to put my hands around my waist, with thumbs in the back and push with my left thumb that is where my pain was...So i went to my doctor, since it was a weekday, and we did a urine test, I had blood in my urine ( only under the microscope) and i had a kidney infection...They put me on leviquin s/p? and it was gone within a week...I also drank alot of fluids, and cranberry juice...Let us know what the ER doctor tell u...good luck

Yeah r2r, that's the spot w/the left thumb.

I was thinking kidney infection, but I always thought that kidneys were on the right side.

I have never in my life had a baldder infection.....or well....the symptoms of one.  Like the burning or pain when you urinate.

But about 10 years ago, I had right side pain and right back pain, went to ER and it was a full blown kidney infection.  So what about the bladder infection that leads up to that?

It was really bad and I'm surprised that I wasn't hospitalized for that.  I was in bed for 2 - 3 weeks and lost 30 lbs!

So yeah, I'd like to catch this thing now so that I don't miss work & turn into a skeleton again.

Thanks so much.

Mine also hit just like that, out of no where...I really didn't have the ususal bladder infection or UTI , maybe the same thing...But urinating didnt' really burn, it just took long once i felt like going....

But I thought kidneys were really low, and the doctor was the one that told me about putting my hands around my waist, and that was where they were...
Now i also had a test done to make sure it was not a kidney stone, and that came back negative, thank god, because i know with my gallbladder that is nothing nice..
well hopefully that is all it is , and they can give you some antibiotics and you don't turn into a skeleton again..lol...

but it was painfull, but didnt' last long once i was on the levaquin...
good  luck at the ER

That is one of the things I was thinking as well there are some other things it can be as well but you have a kidney on both your right and left side I do think it is a really good idea to have it checked out.

i'm a nurse, operating room........could be kidney stone, drink drink drink.....go to er.....they will see if it's small enough to pass, if so they'll give you pain meds & have you pee into a seive to catch it.  good news is....if they have to "get" it it's all done with ultrasound now, you won;t feel a thing, completely non invasive

having said all that, it could be other things, but I bet..........
good luck!

We went to ER around 4:00 yesterday afternoon.  At that time, I was in no pain at all.  It had completely gone away and did not come back.

The ER was packed and several accidents were brought in by ambulance, so after waiting over 4 hours and not getting called, we just came home.

I'm off work Wednesday, so will make a doctor's appointment.  It's time for my annual gyno appointment.  Do you think a gyno would be okay to see for this?

Like I said, no more pain.  Now my surgical area (low back) is aching this morning.  I'm not sure if that's the normal pain I get sometimes, or if it's related to the kidnew issue.

Thanks everyone for your help and support.
