extremely hungry all the time it seems...

4th day of NO oxys...I cant stop wanting to eat, I feel that sensation of being actually starved..very often. Not nice.

Is this because my body isn't actually receiving the nutrients it needs from the food? or is this a symptom of W/D ?

I eat regularly, I eat whole grain cereals for bfast, I eat burgers and Subway sandwiches throughout the day, treats, chips sometimes junk food too....Plus B6 caps and 1 multivitamin/day.

Drinking lots of water, and sometimes gatorade.

could i do something different to really help the physical feeling of being so damn hungry you almost cant even wait to cook something tasty...mmmm....wtf is going on?

hey there.  I to had that same sensation!! Believe me only a handful of opiate addicts can eat during wd's.  It might be that our addiction wasnt the biggest it might have been.  I ate all the time during my wd's i never got sick or had stomach problems, just be grateful that you can eat right now. Most of us couldnt even think about eating at this point during wd's.  BTW great job on 4 days!!!!

I definately agree with umustbedreaming, when i detoxed last time, i couldnt eat anything, and that was even with meds from the dr to lessen the symptoms....I think that maybe it is your bodies way of replenishing all the nutrients you lost or maybe didnt get while you were using, WAY TO GO on 4 days, you are almost past the hard part of withdrawing.....now on to your recovery!!!!

Congrats on 4 days!!!  All i could do was throw up just by the smell of food.  This should subside here shortly and you will even out.  Glad to see you getting your life back!!  Keep posting          sara

I too had a hard time eating anything while in w/d but hafta say that since I've been CLEAN for 56 days I'm turning in to a FAT TOAD..."RIB - IT"

I guess that's okay... cuz at least I'm a HEALTHY FAT TOAD...

Hang in there and just remember to DO WHAT YOUR BODY TELLS YOU...(as long as it's in it's RIGHT MIND.... i.e. not drug induced)

Wow I really appreciate hearing from everyone. I was discouraged from my prior posts getting no feedback so even though I do feel for those who either cuoldn't eat or still can't during withdrawls, it may be dependant on the duration and severity of our addicitons. I think that umustbdreaming hit it on the head as I was only 4-5 months into my addiciton (around 150mg/day oxys) and had one w/d early on for 3 days.

Although I was teased a lot the first 2-3 days with real good feeling days and workouts goin over well, I feel worse on the 4th day. sleep was ok its basically 5 hrs a night, but im worried about taking so much tylenol or advil to help w sleep or headaches. today I have a massive migrane (migraine).

I think the b6 caps and steady feed of H2o are maybe dehydrating me tooo much? & so i'm not keeping in enough water to keep me hydrated.....either way thanks for the congrats I certainly am proud of 4th day being well on its way....Definitely ready for the next step into recovery.

Thanks to all. Wishinging everyone the best on this fine day.

WD never effected my appetite...Im always hungry and willing to eat, lol. you shoulda seen me when i was pregnant. good god I could eat an Army under the table (except when i had morning sickness but that thankfully subsided fast) ANyhow, I too was eating lke a horse during WD's. Im one of those freaks of nature that can eat enough for 10 people, but never gain any weight. Ive been around 110-120 my entire adult life.

I have been reading your posts and although I have no experience with opiate withdrawal (my problem is with benzos), I just want to say, "WAY TO GO!!"  It is so encouraging to hear good news, and although I wouldn't know you from Adam, I am proud of you!  Keep goin' :).

That should be an indication that your addiction wasnt as fully evolved as it could have gotten..... be thankful that you can eat - most have the opposite problem....

that is crazy. I wish I was able to do that! haha truly an art...

Ever since I quit smoking weed years ago and began to drink lots of beer (replacing one addiction with the other) I gained about 40 lbs and only lost it about 7 months back (jus b4 starting w Oxys)
Now since then ive mainted my ideal weight of 180 but man..I know now that im clean I have to be careful..thanks for your support.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement..I wish you all the best with your fight as I know Benzos can be a harsh W/D. Hows it coming? Im not so sure how to track the posts from different users. Would love to hear some good news as well..Cheers!

im incredibly thankful for that. I need to be reminded constantly so I do not fall victim to the oxys again...now on day 6 and feeling GREAT. At least I was until some headaches crept back this afternoon, but still...This isn't something thats just going to dissapear on me. And so long as I am reminded of where I was and how much ive suffered consequently (be it major or minor) I do not ever have cravings to use as I know exactly where i'll end up. The support has been wonderful. My second step was taken this morning when i went to a social worker and had a great 1st meeting...I feel better already just having vented and  released some tension this eve. this forum is the best.
