going public with my story

As most of you know I am currently in the hospital with toxic shock syndrome. I have been here since April2nd.I have decided that I want good to come out of this situation.I have learned that the mortality rate for this is up to 70%. I have to give back.I have decided that when I get out of here and back on my feet that I want to go around and teach young women about the dangers of this horrible condition.Maybe speak at middle and highschools ya know?I know this is off topic but what do you guys think????

Yes seeing the kids really brightened my spirits.
I just figure I am going thru this for some reason.70 % is an awful statistic and I was spared for some reason.I HAVE to give back.You just dont here about this and how dangerious it is.Anyways thank you for the support

Glad to hear your doing better.
Sounds like a great idea about teaching about this because alot of people aren't very aware of it. Me included. May I ask how you got this sickness and how it can be prevented? What were the initial symtoms (symptoms)?
So happy you made it thru, the odds don't sound real good.

I think that is such a great idea. A few days ago Toxic Shock Syndrome was the 7th most searched topic on Yahoo, That really surprised me. I wondered why.

that is because so many people wanted to know what was going on with her because EVERYBODY was worried! :)

Definitely go for it! I am in a similar situation with a failing liver - but I did clinical trial chemotherapy and God (and the Mayo Clinic's Doc's) bought me a few more years. There can never be too much information exchanged about health issues......and the personal satisfaction that comes from counseling an individual in need cannot be topped. Help yourself and help others at the same time - can you think of a better combination?
