how fast to taper percocet?

I'm on my11th day of tapering and its a slow painful process. I started at 6 a day and went to 4.5 within 3 days with little discomfort. I was super excited thinking this wouldn't be as hard as I thought. So  I'm down to 4.5 but its weird cause the wd didn't hit until day before yesterday. I was ready to go to 4 but the last 2 nights I had restless arms and legs and couldn't go back to sleep. Plus I had terrible stomach cramps! Luckily I'm not workin cause I would just get up 3am and wait till I felt tired again then go back to sleep. Should I go ahead and go to 4 anyway? Or wait till my body gets used to 4.5? Does .5 make that much of a difference? (They are 5mg percs) I have to go back to work tmrw. And btw this forum is helping me tremendously with the emotional part! Yay!

Look up top at the small print, it will explain each forum. This forum is generally for day-to-day chat.

Ok great thanx! Also I just noticed this is a different forum than "Addiction Forum" so I reposted in the other one. I was curious, what's the difference between the two?

10% of the amount you are currently taking.  So let's say you are taking 10 a day (for example).  You would cut that down by one.  So for the first week you would be taking 9 a day instead of 10.  I hope that makes sense.

Thanx you guys! Greatgreebo I find it somehow comforting that you said the same thing is happening to you! Lol. Not that I wish that on anyone but that feeling is so icky! Not only creepy crwly but achey too! *shiver*

Mestiza I think you're right. Don't think I'm ready to go down again yet. I'm just really anxious to finish this process. I guess I have to be patient.

Shelby do you mean 10% mgs, or 10% pill amount? Thanx everyone!

Tapering is hard enough, I think they recommend only 10% per week so you have less w/d symptoms and a better chance at success.

Personally, i would stay on 4.5 for a couple of days, then go down to 4 a couple of days and so on and so forth.  I have read many posts here and some have really great advice on tapering on their profiles.

I have read that the recommended amount is 10% per week.

Good luck!

I don't have an answer for you...but I'm in the exact same boat. I am tapering from 10/325 hydrocodones and am down to 4 a day. If I try to go any lower it becomes really uncomfortable...so I'm doing more of a maintenance than a taper for the last few days. I thought I was the only one on the planet waking up at the crack of dawn with the creepy crawlies running down my spine. Hang in there and I'll keep watching your post! Hopefully someone can give us some answers.
