Thanks to everyone for all of your stories.  They are all so very helpful.
Mine is so much like yours.  I have very bad tailbone pain (after childbirth).  I started with Vicodin, then Percocet (my favorite), then after MUCH pushing from my doctor - he put me on Oxy (first 10mg and then 20mg).  Both my husband and I didn't want to do the Oxy b/c we heard so many bad stories.
What my husband didn't know at the time was that I was getting a great high (making me super mom - or at least I thought) from the Percocet.  The Oxy never really gave me a buzz even with having to chew some to get them in my system faster.  I started taking more and more and more.  I was moving my dr appts up to get more scripts.  I ended up taking 5 to 6 20mg Oxy and up to 16 Percocet per day.
I knew this had to end and I couldn't lie to everyone anymore.  I went to a GREAT detox place and stayed their for 4 days.  They gave me shots of Buprenex every six hours and I felt really SO much better than I thought I'd feel.
NOW I'm home and there is no more Buprenex.  The detox hospital said I would be "lethargic" for about a week.  That's an understatement!!  They gave me some stuff for anxiety which isn't my BIG problem - my BIG problem is my leg pain (aches).  And I'm soooooo tired.  I've tried some suplements, but those are upsetting my stomach.  I have NO appetite, no taste, bowl issues, and I've been home 7 days tomorrow.
Any ideas??  Any light at the end of the tunnel here???  I'm getting sick and tired of being tired and not moving around!!!!
Thanks all.

i went back and read your first post..you said you i think i have more pain from lack of the drug then the crushed legs caused???  let me ask you this--are you taking them as perscribed??  if you miss a dose it will be so hard to not be in pain...For one sugery i had i had to get up even during hte night and make sure i took it every four hours are i was in trouble....Because it is 90 days and you may need a bone graft, sounds pretty serious to me...BUT only you know your pain..

In your situation don't wait until you feel cramps, thent he med will not work..Take it every 4 hours like it said..I am so sorry to tell you this but the good news is you are here, earlier on..So what you can do right now is read read read, get all the info you can....If you are going to need surgery and you are in pain, you cannot stop taking your painmeds.....that being the case, you can learn the difference between dependence and addition...Do NOT take more then persribed no matter what..If the pain is still there maybe add some other OTC meds, ask your doc first..Gosh i wish i would of found this site just where you are now.
My advice would be:

1. get all the info you can
2.do not read and think that when someon says they are taking 20 a day they are lying
(that is what i did) and then can easily take 20..
3.always be honest with your doctor..
4.Go to Ga guy and fladdict profile , click on their blue names and just read..

I promise you we are like a big family here, so if you have no one, someone is always here.
Please let us know how it goes

Sorry to hear about your situation.  You will probably need pain meds for a while longer.  Your body is already physically addicted at 90 day so if you quit suddenly you'll experience withdrawals.  The drugs don't work as well for pain if you wait for it to be extreme.  Have you tried taking half the dose with some Ibuprofen?
Keep talking (posting) about your feelings and drug use. Some people find it helpful to write down when they take it and what they are feeling.   You should take what you need for pain, there is no reason to suffer, but just be aware and make sure you are taking it for pain and not emotional reasons.

first off, thank for being straight. i dropped a 40' steel beam. because this was at work, every issue is mico-managed thur workers comp. i live in a small MN. town. i don't have many friends. feel abandoned by co-workers, family is out of town or state and depression has creep over. looking at bone graft possibly in Dec. i have read more letters and know i have a lot of company. i have no pain management to speak of. i was 1 every 4 hours  beginning in Aug. trying to wait until cramps are severe my lower legs are slow to heal if at all.       again thanks for any response

I agree with road2recovery entirely. People need to know how far into this you are before the advice can work optimally. If you have been taking them as directed a 90 day use is not really a habit. But if you are concerned, then it is probably time to look at your use...have you escalated the dose at all? Do you take them for the pain only? Or are you happy with the feeling that they create? What happens when you don't take them? Your comment that there is no end in sight doesn't sound good. Believe me...I have a terminal liver condition and do understand that attitude. But you don't have to have it. How did you get the legs crushed? Do the pain management people say anything about clinical depression? It usually seems to be present in this type of situation. But it can be addressed. And NO - I am not a strong believer in antidepressants - I really have a more medieval approach. Fresh air, sunshine (or light therapy), and exercise. Things like that. What is the prognosis for your legs? Are you going through a healing period or is there more involved? You might be jumping the gun on the addiction questuon. Most folks really have to work hard to get as jammed up as they do. I know that I did. Best of luck to you.

yes , they play a big part in our minds...how many do you take in a day?
The good thing is it has only been 90 days, you don't want to stay on these for yrs, it will be so much tougher to get off of...You can do this, but give alittle more info
we are all here to help
