looked in the mirror... what happened?

Can anyone relate to this?  Looked in the mirror last night and wondered, what happened?  I had aged more than I even knew!  I guess time flies when you are having fun (or staying in a fog of high) while moving on with life.

I actually had a couple of clients tell me yesterday how good I looked and what was I doing to look so good?  I sure couldn't tell them  "oh, I decided to quit my HYDO addiction".  

Wow, I thought I was looking the same and apparently not... aged but, apparently looking better than before this horrid pill took my life and soul... all for cheaper pain meds for my migraines and enjoying the "at one time" high, which I was no longer receiving prior to my taper.

I wonder what else I missed out on while I was in this fog? Oh, btw, my 10 yr. old daughter and 18 yr. old son grew up on me too... WOW, when did that happen!

Sad, but grateful I can see through the fog now.

I have seen pics of me while i was using and i cant believe it is me....I had the color of an elephant, the bags under my eyes, oh it was horrid.  Yes the abuse has aged me but now when i look in the mirror i see a person that i like now who has color back, clear eyes and mind......I too am very grateful..........sara

yeah...I know what you mean.  It wasn't a week after I quit that I had gotten quite a few compliments on how well I was looking....from people who had no idea that I was addicted to hydro.

Funny in some strange way...but it makes you feel good about quitting.

oH ,my gosh can I relate to this....  or WHAT!?!?

After qutting my DOC (Norco) I can SEE... I'M ALIVE!   and it ain't pretty.. the lines... the wringles... BUT.. as you have said .. people say I LOOK alot healthier.. what's up with THAT?!?!?  I THINK I look worse.. but I FEEL soooooo much better!

Any body know any good plastic surgeons?

I totally agree I've never felt so alive and in control,I do admit I see my wrinkles more now the fog has cleared,It's a shame I live in Australia maybe we could of got a group discount off a plastic surgeon.

I am thinking about applying some "bondo" in the wrinkles or as NorcoQueen says "wringles"!!!!  LOL

LOL....am laughing so hard right now! I think my crows feet are filling up with water from the tears of my eyes. And btw, when did they get there!!!

Awww, laughter the best medicine... almost better than a Hydro.  

15 minutes and counting till my next tapered dose... my achy legs are calling for it but, I know I can make it.  All I have to do is read this thread of posts and I start laughing again.

Bondo is cheaper.....I will try it and let you all know the results!!!!  Works for dents in cars so it should work for this!!!!!

DRUGS WILL MAKE U LOOK SO MUCH OLDER ITS SAD I USE TO HAVE A VERY YOUNG FACE PPL SAY I LOOKED 18 AT 25 NOW SEEMS I LOOK LOT OLDER.

Because I'm so much happier and full of life and in a great mood all the time.  I tell them I'm high on life (which of course they don't believe ha ha), but I know the truth.

I soo agree with your commet about people asking you what you're on?  NOTHING!
And just SOOO happy to be able to say that now!  

I've found that I am so much more approachable and happier since getting clean,, plus I love it when I can make people laugh and make THERE day... That's a GREAT HIGH for me!

And I have to say you are GREAT at that!  I love to read your posts.

I'm going to go walk the dog for exercise.  I have been using the excuse of needing to keep my energy for work.  I took a walk in the beginning of my taper on Day 3 & it was miserable.  This time will be better... I know it!!

towards the end, I was looking rough. there were some weekends where I would have 5 different drugs in me if you counted cigs. I looked like aleister crowley meets keith richards !!! big bags under my  red eyes, all worn out looking.

then when I went through methadone wd's I looked like I had the plague and was dying.


But now several people I know, have said I look much better. I can see it in the mirror too.  Other things are much better too  :]

BOO.. OOH SCARY!  
I think I'm at the point in my life where I just shouldn't LOOK anymore!

BUT.. WHEN I DO... I can say
