lump in face

hi..about a year ago i had a hard fall on rocks and grit and cut all inside my top lip and gum there as a lot of swelling and a large lump appeared about an inch by 1/2 inch thats about 1 and 1/2 inhes above the corner of my mouth ive had it looked at and x rayed with mixed views from sist to scar tissue. i even went in hostpital to have it removed but on morning of op the specialist canceled saying it was to close to a nerve ending and as it is not causing me any pain to leave it and see what happens, but i feel it is getting slightly bigger and changing shape...  

any ideas?       jase

good morning...did they do an MRI or only an x ray. If they only did an x-ray id be wondering why they would schedule a surgery when they dont even know what they are going in for. an MRI would give them a much better idea of what it is. I assume it isnt a piece of gravel/rock from your fall because that would show up solid on an x-ray which it sounds like it didnt. If it's a cyst, they could try and drain it first before surgery..and yes it could be scar/granulation tissue and would be my likely guess of what it is, but of course Im no doctor, lol. Good luck to you, hope you find out what it is. I would demand an MRI if you havent had one yet, that would be a good starting point.

i had a car accident many many years ago...ended up putting my bottom teeth thru my bottom lip.....because of scar tissue...i haad numerous small lumps...over time they became smaller....i can feel them but not see them now....get another opinion esp if its getting bigger not smaller

thanks guys.. and yes ive had x ray mir and ultra sound, and the ultra sond guy said in his opion there was to much blood circulation for it to be scar tissue. i will get second opion private as nhs seemed one big un clear rush although i do have appointment in few weeks. ireally want it cut out but apprently if the nerve ending gets cut the hole sid of my face could drop, and thts the big concern?
