meds & constipation - sorry, gross...but URGENT!

by wickedwanderer, Aug 28, 2007 06:24PM
hi guys,

i think one of my meds (celexa) is causing me to be...well, constipated.  I can go for the most part, but it's very difficult.  i'm in the process of weaning off the celexa for other reasons, but i don't like this feeling.

i'm running to the store in a little bit (after NA-yippee!) and was wondering if anyone had suggestions on stuff that works well for this type of problem.  i'm going to read the labels and stuff but a recommendation always helps.

THANK YOU!!!!

How fast do you want results? They have healthy gentle stuff, and they have sutff you drink before a surgical that happens right now (1 hour)

100% pure mango nectar or a fresh mango or prune nectar works quickly for me. Also some laxatives are great now at they do not make you sick. You take a pill at night and wake up right as rain after you have visited the washroom.

I used "Gentlax" it is a laxative...Used to have to use it all the time. When we take alot of pills, especailly Narcotics it causes constipation. Trust me, been through it for 4 years now, seriously i think in 4 years i might have went a total of maybe 20 times if that in the whole 4 years..

This Gentlax, works well... you take at night before bed and wake to relief...

Think i am the queen of constipation!

Good luck, i know it is an awful feeling!

Flaxseed meal or the seeds.  If you use the seeds grind them in a coffee grinder or buy the meal which is already ground.  Mix it in milk and its like a protein drink.  May take a day or two.  try quarter cup to eight to sixteen oz.  its full of omegas and all kinds of great stuff.........good luck and happy popping.........:-)  or a stool softener the best is called perdium   it's a bit expensive, but was recommended my my hubbys procto after his butt surgery.  It's the best and very gentle.  Never use the anything like ducolax.......oh, god is that some painful stuff.

Naauty...................

i used 16 ounces prune juice (over ice) wasnt that bad actually, milk of mag and two hours later i was going. I also got some enemas and they truly work FAST and are VERY effective and cheap!

by wickedwanderer, Aug 29, 2007 10:14PM
i actually have not taken the "laxative tablets" i bought.  i'm not even sure if that's what i was supposed to buy.  i'm scared to take it...i don't want to be pooping like crazy lol.  i dunno, i guess i have a weird fear about it.  ok tmi, but i can go...it just doesn't seem l ike i go very much and i can't get it all out...LOL omg.  i eat and whatever so, i should be pooping :P

no problem. You wont be "going like crazy" I promise. Just take as recommended on the box, and I would take them at night before bed. Drink some apple juice during the day...

My brother suggested Fleet enemas or suppositories. I chose the latter, having not ever tried an enema before.
I accidentally bought the infant/children's version, but hey, they definitely worked. It kind of gives you loose bowels a few times, but it relieves the constipation.

thanks...i'm gonna try it friday night (since i don't have to be anywhere Saturday).  i am really paranoid about taking the meds lol...sure you already noticed that.  i'm usually not like that!!

Try the suppositories and then the enema also.   But, the best thing would be to take a swig of Phillips Milk of Magnesia.  A couple of swigs and you will go good the next day.  What a relief./  I just went through all of this. Good luck.
