taper or cold turkey?

taper or cold turkey?

I have no idea but alot of posts have suggested tapering as opposed to cold turkey because the symptoms are more violent.  But the advantage is you, assuming you're successful, you get clean in one fell swoop.  I would say it's a very individual thing.  Just sharing what I've read on here.

It depends on what you are quitting some meds cannot be stopped all at once as they cause side affects such as seizures, you have to be careful, you need to talk to a doctor or pharmacist so they can tell you which meds can be quit cold turkey and which ones can't.Be careful and Take Care

benzo's and barbiturates can't be d/c'd cold turkey. i wish they could, though. i think its torture to drag out the process sometimes months just to come off a drug you're addicted to. it's like slowly reducing someones food intake every day until they are down to 5 peas and half a hot dog with no bun....and then saying ok, now its time to stop. but thats the way it has to be done for those.

i mean i guess if its not dangerous to d/c a drug cold turkey, then thats the better way to go. like smoking. no one succeeds in quitting smoking by slowly reducing how many cigarettes they smoke each day. it just doesn't work. it's all or none. but yeah, benzo's and barbs have to be tapered and under the direction of a doctor.
