Yes the opiates DO slow down our digestive system. This is why we get constipated, and bloated!

Eat foods with LOTS and LOTS of FIBER....The more fiber you get the better.

Citrucel, is very good to drink. I got a huge jar of it and you just mix it with water, kinda tastes like orange tang...Full of fiber, if you can get some of that, along with any kinds of food with lots of fiber. Then after a few days you should notice a difference.

im no dr but i have read that the opiates slow down our digestive system.  i guess when we stop our entire body and all our organs have to learn how to function w/o opiates.

i have had that bloating feeling too.
