I have heard that the reason Ultram can make you feel depressed is that it has a calming effect like Xanax does. I was told by my doctor that Ultram has a depressive side effect in some people. You might want to call your doctor and let them know that the Ultram is being counterproductive. Is the Ultram for pain? If so, can you take something else like Ibuprofen or something like that? Good luck! Hugs, Janet
Anyone else have any input????
man my english and spelling suck.
I have been on Wellbutrin for years Respidol I have been on for 2-3 months. I feel better today and it has only been 24 hours since an Ultram. I swear it is the Ultram, I can just tell by the way my mond feels today. The Ultram also makes me feel tired and sure doesn't give me the pep or good mood feeling like a good ole ES would do.
how long have you been on the other medicines? it could be a side effect or drug interaction. and Mareke is right, you shouldnt be taking those meds together in the first place. It seems alot of Dr's are totally ignorant when it comes to RXing Ultram with other antidepressants. Ultram seems to be a very misunderstood drug by many. Most dr's dont seem to realize its very addictive, has very bad side effect potential, lots of drug interactions and is very hard to get off the drug after being on it. You should not cold turkey this medicine because of the risk of seizure. You need to slowly taper off it.
My experience was that Ultram gave a slight mood lift if taken daily. It had an antidepressant effect on me if anything. It acted both as a pain reliever and caused me to worry less and feel less down. This however only happened after taking it for some time. The problem is that if you stop taking it once your body is used to it you can feel low. In your case you are taking other drugs that are quite strong and it would be hard to determine which drug is having what effect. Ultram isn't recommended to be taken with a drug like Wellbutrin because Wellbutrin is a selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor and taking Ultram at the same time increases the risk of having a seizure so Ultram should at least be taken as long as possible after Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin is an anti-depressant and maybe you haven’t been taking it long enough to work or perhaps it’s not working as intended and you need to tell your doctor this after giving it time to work. You should keep in touch with your doctor as the drugs you have been prescribed are pretty strong. Not taking Ultram is probably a wise thing considering the other drugs you are taking. Taking 2 drugs is bad enough but taking 3 increases the likelihood of undesirable side effects. Whenever I took more than one drug I suffered raised blood pressure and other side effects. Good luck I hope things improve for you.
