1 Full day with no hydrocodone

1 Full day with no hydrocodone

I was finally able to make it 24hrs so there is no turning back now. This is a 120mg hydro habit a day for the past 4 months. I've been on again off again for 2 years. This time has to work. I have therapy set up for aftercare and some healing with art. I feel very drained today. I have been taken klonopin which I'm going to come off of on day 4. Trying to get up the energy to go sit in the hot tub at the local ymca. The urge to get high is very strong today.

congrats on the 24 hrs, 1 day done you are on your way!  Im on day 9 of kicking a hydro habit and starting to feel better, getting my appetite back, sleeping a little better, and have a little more energy.  You can get there, just keep telling yourself tomorrow will be a little better.  I was taking 15 to 20 10mg hydros daily.  Took 4 ultram the first two days to help me a little bit after stopping the hydro.

I think its great that you have therapy set up already, that's what I need to concentrate on.  Ive fought this battle a lot of times over the past few years and that's one thing I havent done, seek support, Im going to do that this time to make this be the last time I have to fight this feeling.

That urge you speak of?  it's still there for me, screaming in my ear, wish I knew how to make that go away.

so I guess I said all that to say...WTG on making it through the first day, it wasnt easy and you did it!

Much love

I have been off hydro and methoph for 17 days cold turkey. I have leg cramps constantly feel weak. I am walking constantly using hot water and then ice. Nothing seems to be improving. How long is this going to take. Please email me what to expect day to day. Nothing is emproving. I have enough metho for 4 years andf hydro for 3 months. It is hot here in the Philippines and I do not do well in the heat. Summer here will last enother 3 months. Should I have waited? I do not think about taking the pills and my stupid wife says go ahead and take the hydro you can quit later. This is not a option. Please reply but to my email. I had a hard time finding this websight. But for a saved email from you I wauld be lose. mlannen1@aol,com

I broke down and took a couple of Darvocets...it's about 5am and I can't sleep. I needed some relief. I figure thats not that bad. I have a couple of Darvocets left for the next few days. I figure by day 4 I want to be off everything. For those of you taking tramadol probably no different then me taking Darvocets. I got a little bit of sleep but woke up in a cold sweat. This is my 4th time detoxing. You think we would learn the first time around. This has got to be the last time. I have missed out on so much and time just keeps ticking away. I don't want to wake up one day and realize that I gave my life to drugs.

Sorry you took the darvocets. That just delays the detox.  I took a few hydro after 2 weeks and I went right back into the cold to the bone withdrawal.  When you detox. It gets better if you dont use.  If you do.  It doesnt

Well today is day 3 and I have to say this time in not that bad. I have used the darvocets to ease the withdrawal and plan to be off of them by tomorrow. I was suprised when I did a little research on darvocets and found that they are sometimes used to aleviate withdrawals when coming off of stronger opiods. I researched it through Wikipedia if anyone is interested in reading up on them. I figure you do what you gotta do to get clean. I was able to go to the park today and walk 3 miles and run 1 mile. I went from gobbling 20 vicodins a day to about 4 darvocets a day and have had minimal withdrawal.

It's day 4 and still doing pretty good...going off the darvocets tomorrow. I'm going to take Celexa (antidepressant) for 6 months to a year starting tomorrow just so I can stay stable. Depression was the reason I started taking vicodins. Somebody let me know I'm going in the right direction. I feel like I am but would be good to have reinforcements. I know alot of people have said quit cold turkey but It just has never worked for me in the past. This time I was able to ease my withdrawals a bit and gradually come off of them.

It looks like your approach is working for you.You are now going off all opiates and starting an antidepressant.
You will be able to go thru withdrawals better with the AD.
Take all the vitamins and nutrients to help the body fight
Get into aftercare and you are well on your way.
Also keep posting

Congratulations on your desire to quit and get clean.  Unfortunately using the darvocet - while it will ease the withdrawal, you will still go through a couple days of withdrawal after you stop taking it tomorrow.  In order to completely detox, you must go completely without any kind of opaite for 3-5 days before the worst part is over.  Yeah, it really stinks, but in the end it is really worth it.  Sounds like you have a plan with some aftercare, but definitely work with your doctor on the other meds and your therapist.  Find out the true cause for your self medicating and work on you. Keep posting, there are some great people on here who have been in your shoes - we are all here to support you.

Thank You. Yeah I already have aftercare setup. Some one on one time with a counselor. I have some abuse (physical and sexual) that I need to deal with. I should say I need the tools to properly go through life. Some things I missed out on learning the proper way. Quitting all opiates and starting AD actually tonight and plan on getting plenty vitamins and minerals. I'm even starting a garden (I might be a little late in the season).

Yeah I plan on going through withdrawals aftercoming off the darvocets but dont think they will be as bad as I have drasically cut down. They will just be a little more bearable.

You are probably right.  Unfortunately I have gone through withdrawals from vicodin - 200mg habit - and darvocet, even codeine.  The w/d from the darvocet was not as bad, but still a pain.  Hang in there - get some exercise, take some hot baths - and pamper yourself.  Most of all, keep posting!

Just an update. Day 9 and I am opiate free. I worked the Darvocet and tapered off of it. It took me a couple of days longer but I did it. I have to say it has been much more bearable. The Darvocets never got me high they just curbed the withdrawals a bit more. I'm starting to feel like myself again and appetite and energy are slowly picking back up. Thanks to everyone who posted and offered support.

Try taking Kratom...it helps amazingly with opiate withdrawals. You can order it off the internet. Look it up on wikipedia if you want to know more about it. I have been taking it for over a year with no side effects and it helps with my pain without having to get addicted to opiates.
