1 week update

Well it's been exactly one week now for me.

Since I can't sleep I figured I would pop in an post something.

The restless legs still have yet to go away. Seems like they are getting somewhat better but who knows.  I thought they were well enough that if I took some seroquel tonight I could sleep. BOY WAS I WRONG. Now I am extremely uncomfortable and extremely exhausted and yet I can't fall asleep. :(

Apart from the lack of sleep, fatigue and restless legs things are going pretty well. My appetite is back completely. I just wish I could get the restless legs to go away!! :(

How is everyone else doing? Anyone heard anything about newhope, Michael_777 or ItIsNow?

Glad to hear it Jonny! Sounds like your symptoms and mine have been very similar so it's good to hear! I wouldn't mind laying in bed awake so much if my legs didn't want to run a marathon! :)

We will make it!!! Or should I say we ARE making it!! :) Hang in there!

Thanks Michael! I have already begun to notice some of those different things. Just appreciating things more, etc.

Hop everything is going well for you! I was getting worried about you when I hadn't seen you on in a while.

I have been drinking a TON of vitamin water. And I actually had been taking some magnesium and potassium, but come to find out that apparently Depakote and Magnesium do not mix well and can actually cause blood clotting issues, etc. so I have to be careful about what I am taking.

Oh no!!! I have been communicating with an LSU alum?!?!?! :) I graduated from Ole Miss. :) So we can't have that! :) But seriously, my fiancee is from down that way and alot of her family are LSU fans so I guess I will let it slide. :)

Glad to hear things are going well for you still! I haven't been fishing in years. Maybe I will need to try that again when it warms back up up here.

Seems like the RLS is alot better today. More manageable. I'm trying to find that balance between enough caffeine to keep the RLS at a minimum but not so much to cause it to flare up because I really think it's the caffeine withdrawal that's causing that problem.

When I finally fell asleep last night (took a while) I PASSED out and slept like the dead until this morning. So I am hopeful that that helped some too. Don't feel quite as drained today.

I have never really had much luck with any sort of sleep aid type meds. They all seem to give me even worse RLS. (antihistamines do too.) I tried telling the dr. that once about 10 years ago and he thought I was nuts. (Bet he thinks differently now!!)

Thanks again for the kind words and all of the encouragement. I truly couldn't have done it without you. YOU, my friend, are the man!

Congrats on hitting one week.  I am on day 11, still going strong.  I thought it was going to be hard over the weekend, seeing my friends and all, but I didn't have any problems.  I went fishing with my dad on Saturday and tore it up.  LSU (where I went to school) somehow miraculously got into the BCS championship game.  Life is good!

I'm sorry to hear that the RLS is still giving you problems.  You may have been self-medicating the problem before.  I remember you told me that doctors sometimes prescribe hydros for RLS.  If it doesn't get better soon, you may need to see a doctor.  Just be sure to stear clear of any narcotic remedies he may suggest.

One week is quite an accomplishment.  You are the man!

Have you tried taking Tylenol PM before going to bed?  They don't really help me sleep, but I hear a lot of people saying they knock-em right out, and the Tylenol may help with the RLS.

Keep it up!!!

You will notice a big difference from day 7 to 10.  Im on day 10 now.  RLs has gone away but still have trouble falling asleep.  WHen I finally fall asleep now I sleep about 5 hours.  Its not great but I know it will improve.  Try drinking Muscle milk twice a day wih some exercise as this combination has made me feel real good physically.  The anxiety is still there short periods when I see or do something that reminds me of when I would pop a pill.  But If we stay clean long enough we will train our brain to fuction perfect without it as we have when we were using.  Know what I mean.  Hang in there I know it has to get better.  I always reassure myself by thinking back when I did not use pills to function.  Everthing was fine right!!!!  Just got to get my brain back to that point!!!

Congratulations on the 1 week mark.  You will notice a steady physical recovery now and feel some strange but amazing sensations that you probably haven't encountered before.  Are you taking any vitamins yet?  If not, start now as this will help things progress and may even help with the RLS.  Your body needs the vitamins and nutrients to repair itself.  If the body doesn't have enough of something for the repair it will just put it off until it does.  Kind of like building a house.  If you don't have enough nails for one section, you just move on to something else that doesn't require the nails.

Glad to hear you're doing better.  Love and Strength to you brother!!
