Personally, I believe that AA & NA works, but only if you work it. Many people get physically clean, but still continue having issues that were their from the start of their addiction, their behavior & many hangups still continue to haunt them & dont get resolved, this is when having a group of people who have been in the same shoes as you can make a huge impact on long term recovery. Although I do attend AA meetings,I didn't care for the NA meetings in my area,I know a few recovering addicts who have never attended a meeting in their life but thus far have plenty of clean time under their belt.I am absolutely for attending meetings as part of an after care plan. Will I attend them for the rest of my life? I don't know. Will I keep with me everything I have learned about my addiction and the steps I need to take to never go down that road again?I certainly hope so,thats the plan.May I ask why it bothers you that he said that?I too was on methodone and went to a clinic. Before that my drug of choice was vicodin,20 7.5 mgs. a day.I have been clean from everything for a little over 5 months.
