Coming here is a first step.  Hopefully reading posts will give you motivation to take another one.  Making the changes we need to make in our lives is nothing more than taking one step at a time.  Sometimes we take a few steps backwards, but that doesn't mean we can't go forward again.  Praying that you read what you need to read tonight and in the days to come, to get you going in the right direction!

Hello zoea and welcome to the forum. This is a safe place to explore your addiction and nobody will ever pass judgement. I too have struggled with addiction to cocaine. I have tried many drugs over the years but have quickly learned that my DOC is cocaine. Everytime we relapse, we pick up right where we left off and the tendency to use higher doses, in higher frequency will prove fatal. Cocaine is a tricky addiciton. It's not the same as opiates where you actually get sick if you don't use. You are more likely to suffer the psychological effects that draw you in: moodiness, depression and boredom. The good news is that these feelings quickly fade and it doesn't take long to realize how cocaine is the cause of our feelings of grief and deep despair. I have been on this site since Oct 2011 and did not manage to wrap my heart around sobriety until Nov. I kept busy with my return to work, family and NA meetings. Having a sponsor and home group has made all the difference. I have quit many times before...some times up to 8 years. Long periods of sobriety are just a matter of luck when we're not involved in mutual support. The first step is to walk away from all connections to drugs. Tell your friends and dealers that you're life depends on them not answering your calls in a moment of weakness. Reach out to people who have live similar experiences. Stick around and keep posting. Good or bad. We are here to support you in any way we can. Take care and stay strong.

You are a addict and that means no mood altering chemicals cocaine was a drug that I used for years and then would take xanax to come down off the bad feeling when the cocaine was gone.  Cocaine is a very controling drug most of the time it dont take but one hit to get hooked. So try some substance abuse meetings maybe you need inpatient treatment which is good I went myself and it does help.  Been clean a while now.  The best of luck and may God be with you.

Evening. I've not found it too hard to use today, as i went out. I can usually hold out but at 2 weeks i can't say no. I've been a bit grumpy with girls. But so glad i found this site as i don't feel so alone and realised today i do have a drug problem. I know that may sound silly. Nice hearing your sorry. X

Hi and thank u. I can't get to meetings as i have my girls day and night. But will look to see if i can still find a sponsor. Just thinking or writing triggers my thoughts. And today I've realised i am an addict. Silly not to realise.
