20mg OC for 75mg Sub

I have a friend who just told me that his doctor switched him to 75mg of Sub from a 20mg a day oc habit. He was up to 3 80's a day, and she tapered him down to 20mg, then sent him to a PM doctor, who put him on 75mg of Sub day AND methadone. I'm not sure of the methadone dose, but from what I've read here, those two shouldn't be taken at the same time. I've learned a lot from you guys, and I informed my friend of the worse w/d from sub. He's only been on it a week, and the methadone for pain, and says he will throw the sub out. I don't understand why this doctor would switch him to a more addictive drug from the minimal oxys for pain, when he was doing just fine on the 20mgs a day.

Just so I can inform him, can anyone tell me if he will go through w/d from sub after only a week on them? Thank you for your info.

75 mg of sub!!!!!!!! that does not sound right at all !!!!!!!that over twice the max dose.I would make sure that is right

You were right. I just spoke to him again, and he made a mistake. He is on 10mg of Suboxone. Sorry. Same questions, though.

Methadone plus sub would be totally ridiculous cos sub would block the methadone in the first place...r u sure it is not 75 mgsof methadone?

the highest dose of sub legally rx-ed is 32 mgs...and due to the ceiling effect/4 mgs isusually gonna stick to the recptors enuf to where high dose like 12 mgsand up are really only serving as extra doses...sub is sposed to be taken once a day but a pill pooper is used to takin sumpin everytime they get an itch...but for the most part sub is way over rx-ed...and wasted for the most part..when the receptors r full/they r full/taking more is redundant

get ur friend to re-explain his/her plan of care....cos mehtadone with sub is really stupid...i wouldnt be surprised as many sub drs have no idea what they r doing after an 8 hr sub course online...given by the sub company who wants to make tons of money off people's addiction...the suboxone pharmaceutical company is a predator..making mney off misery of others...teaching drs to over rx sub...and doing harm to the person in the end

The sub company originally marketed sub as wd free..that is already been proved wrong..this company will eventually be sued/if not already/ over the marketing and money they have made off of people's suffering...sub can be a good tool...but is most often rx-ed in doses way over the need of the patient/giving them a new and worse problem

ask ur friend to be exact on what they r taking...cos that doesnt sound right

I talked to him, and he's goin got get rid of the sub and talk to his doctor next time he sees him(both the original doc and PM doc). Tha only thing he knows about sub is what I've told him from reading on this site! His doctors didn't explain anything to him before prescribing. As a matter of fact, they were like, "so you're on 3 80's a day, huh?". He kept telling them that he has weened down to 20mg a day already, before the sub Rx. They just aren't listening. As far as I can see, these docs are pretty much NOT worried about his addiction and health.
