PS..I 100% agree with Clean..I have those videos and lots of other info..Been on a run for a long time on learning all I can in a more Scientific way. It does not cure you, but it will give you some insight on whats happens to our brains and some of the reason why we use. I had put a few of this info in my Journal and some day I will put in more..Feel free to go and take a peek. One is the "Nature of Addiction" and the other is the "Pleasure Brain beyond Willpower.
Get out and get to some
Meetings too..This will calm you down so much and give you the BIGGEST LIFT YET!!

There is no "second stage" of what you went through  :-) There's the physical hell that you are pulling out of, then there is the recovery - getting your body, mind, spritual, and social life to become balanced and enjoyable again without drugs. I think Dirk meant to say the the second stage of recovery - not the second stage of withdrawal.

Congrats on 7 DAYS.....your first week done....YEAH YOU!!!

You may not be like me, Lesah, but the more I could learn about addiction the better when I got clean.  If you get tired of funny youtube videos or TV shows...and have some time on your hand....this video link I'm giving you is an hour and 12 minutes long....but one of the VERY BEST videos I've seen on addiction.  Kevin McCauley is the keynote speaker at a drug/meth conference which is where this was taped.  I had to put earphones on cause it is taped pretty low volume.....but anyhoo....Kevin is a recovering addict himself.  He was a doctor/flight surgeon in the US Military....he ended up getting injured while in the service, was able to administer his own pain meds.....got hooked.....got kicked out of the military and spent some time in Leavenworth Federal Prison.  He spent every waking hour learning all he could about addiction and how it affects our brains.  I am a "knowledge seeker" so maybe that's why I loved it so much....but it also helped me to understand myself and many of my family members still caught up in trap of drug addiction or alcoholism.
Here's the link:

If you want to learn some of the myths of addiction or watch some short 2 or 3 minute videos along with reading some great articles/info....go to hbo.com/addiction and click on one of the six tabs at the top.

You're doing good.....the lack of motivation is a booger....but making yourself get outside, for a short walk, to a meeting or other form of aftercare will speed things along.  Keep on truckin, baby~~

Don't be freaked out! Its tough but it is doable .... Be proud you made it this far .... SO many ppl would love to be one week clean ... Its a tough mental struggle but we need to just take it day by day and before you know it, we will feel way better then we did using.
I am very proud of you!!!! XO

Sounds like the physical stuff is subsiding. You are coming out the other side of this. Addiction is a life long fight. We always have to work on ourselves and our recovery in order to stay clean and sober. There is no 'cure', we will always be addicts, hopefully recovering addicts, but still addicts.

I'm not sure what the person who said that was referring to, but I would venture a guess they are talking about the mental aspect of recovery. After the physical withdrawals are over, we face a mental battle. We start to feel all of the feelings that we have numbed out for years. It can be overwhelming, and can trigger cravings. We have to focus and work daily on our recovery and relearn how to live without the crutch of drugs. This is where NA/AA meetings, counseling, church, etc can be very beneficial. Please do not psyche yourself out over this. It will do nothing but increase your anxiety and make you feel crappy. Use this information to arm yourself and be prepared. Get a plan of action and prepare for your recovery. You are doing great...one week clean! Keep on fighting the good fight.

There are the physical wd's and then the mental ... That is why aftercare/support are so important. I am almost at 4 months clean and still waiting patiently lol ... for the mental to level out.
How are you feeling?

What??? There are many little stages you will go through Physically but this should be gone soon..It is the Mental part that will have its up & downs.
I THINK YOU are just Thinking to much about this..Just take it min by min and day by day..Let it go and let it flow..If you sit around and think of this and that, you will only make it harder on your self..Every one is a bit different in there detox..There are many factors like..Age, Health. How many mg you stopped at, How many Years you have been using, How many drugs you came off of at once, and what Drug you are detoxing from etc..Just take it easy and except the stages or changes as they come..Do NOT Dwell on it because this here will make it worse!!! TIME & PATIENCE and hit those Meetings. You can share with others face to face how you feel, and they will try to comfort you and let you know it is just part of the process. YOU will be on the other side of the street soon..Give it time and try to re-direct you thinking to something other then the w/ds. It can be done!!
Praying for comfort.
