4th day-thought it would get better

I've been reading all your helpful posts. I'm detoxing from Lortab for chronic back pain. This is day for but instead of feeling better I'm super down and the back pain is so bad I don't kow what to do. Was taking 10mg evey 4 hrs-decided to taper and quit cause I hate being on meds 24/7. Tride ever OTC pain reliever. Not helping.Any thoughts?

have u tried icing it...then heat..alternating can help...chiropractic is what i finally relied on after numerous doctors and numerous meds, a surgery and an ultimate pain pill addiction....the chiropractor will jnot cure me but i go weekly and it keeps the pain tolerable...i wish i would have found chiropractic before mine became so chronic...yoga has also helped me alot...good luck...i feel for u

quitting pain meds and having chronic pain is the worst, but as many of us in here, choose the pain, to have our life back from the bondage of that drug that controls our life!

Your on day 4...its normal for your bones and body to ache more than usual, but after this, you will be able to find something that will make you pain tolerable. Some people do many different things for their pain, and there is alot out there to help you. You just have to keep up the fight, and get through these withdrawls, and then you can get some ture remedies for your chronic pain.

Thank you. This ice made it worse but I'm trying heat. I had a massage yesterday and it really helped but I can't afford another one today. Thank you again.

I too have a back injury and have been clean 9 days.  You can do it.  Aleve is my new friend.  It helps alot.  I just decided that I couldn't be a slave to a drug that was controlling my life.  It does get better and I got this far only by the Grace of God for it is by His Stripes we are healed.

I have Aleve; but the label says only 3 per day and my pain is way bigger than that. May I ask what narcotic were you taking and when did u start to feel better?

I love massage but cant afford it like i need them which would be weekly i think...i bought a shiatzu homedic massager that does ur whole back...i use it while i read before i go to bed...think i paid less than 50 bux for it at amazon..it gives a deep massage with those little balls that knead ur back...i also have one that is just for my neck...not as great as a good massage but very close!

Be careful with those hometic shitzu massagers.  I have a pretty expensive one and after using it I couldn't get out of bed for a week.  They can be hazardous to certain kinds of injuries.....I happened to be one of those lucky ones.  Ease into it, I went full blown...as I do everything, and Oiy, I paid for it.  I think if you have soft tissue injury (pain) issues they are good, but I have a nerve type spinal injury, and not recommended for that.

I get the willies just thinking about that thing.  It jacked me !!!!!

So true! I took my Shiatsu massage pad back today. But the good news is this: I'm feeling awesome. WD is all gone and the pain is so much less. Never thought I'd feel this good again. Everyone who's just staring to quit-please know you'll be glad you did.
