That would be the circumference of a circle if my clean time in days represented the radius. A few observations and lessons learned:

- None of the things I thought 3 years ago would be big problems after I quit are problems. Instead, I have a different set of "clean problems" which upon reflection are ok to have.
- I had a lot of growing up to do after I quit. Long term addiction stalls emotional and intellectual growth badly.
- Being a non-addict for awhile, I can sense addiction in myself keenly. I just spent a few weeks in Mexico and actually felt the withdrawal from HF corn syrup. It's a bigger deal than most people realize.
- I still have no idea why some people are able to quit and others are not. I have noticed the the people who succeed all seem to be very earnest and willing to unconditionally put in the effort.

@meegWpaw Google is cheating! But good on you for catching the reference and finding it out. The song I had in mind is the one that everyone knows by them. I swear it could be about addiction.
@NeverAgain127 I think you might be right, but for good or bad, that hasn't stopped me from trying to understand anyway.
@pillguy You are a learned man, well done. If we're dealin in radii, we're dealin in tau!
@VICourageous You're one of the toughest ones I've seen on here, life has been hard on you these past years. Thank you for the kind words.

Hey Ben!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
Your Post said it right to the point!!! YES! In my first yr things were really going great..Physically, Mentally and Spiritually I was still Healing. These last 2 yrs I have seen more family & friends deaths. My health took a down fall, but it is now all coming around for the better. It does take SO SO many CHANGES and time to Learn how to live in your own skin. I came on here like a Lion back in 2012, but have now picked up so much more on dealing with Life Clean & Sober that I find myself alone and calm like a Lamb. So many I know still use/drink..What a SAD world it can be.

It is nice to finally see the World without looking through them Rose Color Glasses!

I am HAPPY for ALL of us that have worked so hard to stay clean..as we know it was no walk in the park and it will still continue to be a job..lol
Very Proud of YOU!!
Bless
Vickie

Congratulations as well.  Why some folks  lose the battle with addiction is a question that haunts me.   My best friend succumbed to addiction to alcohol at age 48; dead.   She had the resources, tools, and loving friends and family to support her, but she drank all the way through end stage cirrhosis until she lapsed into a coma and left this world.   It freaks me out, and challenges my faith HARD.

Some things I guess we aren't supposed to know or understand...
