7 day schedule enough?

by pregnant, Sep 18, 2002 12:00AM
Motox4fun,
Just wanted to see how you are doing on the meds your primary MD prescribed. I will be curious to know if the 7 day schedule is enough.
I read that restless legs can last for months and I have a feeling that will be me. Do the meds "cure" it or just help for that night? Anyway it must be GREAT to get a good night sleep adn well worth it. Let me know how your'e doing.

I am on day 7 or actually day 6. I am still using Clonodine and Klonopin. Man That Clonodine really makes you feel like you were hit by a truck, but the craving for opiates is gone and the restless leg is completely gone 30 minutes after you take the CLonodine. My doc says that I should only need the Clonodine for a couple of more days and things should be back to normal and OPIATE FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BUT, he said that if I need it longer, he will prescribe me some more. I suggest you only try 0.1mg to start with because 0.2mg drops your blood pressure siginifiganty.
I suggest everyone that is struggling with opiate addiction consult your primary doc and get him to put you on Clonodine for about 10 days. It has been a God send for me

I'm so happy for you! I went to an addiction expert today and he can't give me ANYTHING because I am pregnant. I am on day 13 of restles legs and he told me I have 1-2 months more of that at least!!!!!!!!!!! Why? Because he found out that I am one of the 12% of people that actually have a true physical addiction to codeine. Of course, anyone that goes off it goes through terrible withdrawls for 4-8 days. He said that a person who has this true addiction is characterized by one that  would actually "feel" a high 20 min after taking codeine, and the subsequent crash 4-5 hours later until the next dose. That's how mine was characterized.
I was afraid, however, that the restless legs would never go away and that my brain "forgot" how to have normal legs but he assured me, and garaunteed me that it would go away. I have (we all have here) restless legs, not restless leg SYNDROME. The Restless Leg Syndrome doesn't go away. (My heart goes out to them!)
He told me to work out really hard at the Gym before I go to bed to get endorphins going. Ha! I didn't help tonight! I'm awake with those legs. But i did feel great on the way home and for  an hour later. Keep me posted on how your'e doing OK?

hi - i don't know if you are having trouble sleeping, but working out right before bed won't help you fall asleep easily.  withdrawal usually does a number on your sleep pattern - anything that makes it difficult to get to sleep should probably be avoided until your system gets back to normal....just my 2 cents.
