7 year propoxyphene (Darvocet / Darvon) Addiction

Friends,
I live in India. I went through a difficult phase in life 10 years ago. An alcoholic who wanted to quit and supplemented spasmo proxyvon (Indian equivalent of darvocet or darvon (propoxyphene HCL)) as a substitute since I was low on funds. it was and still is cheaper. Since that time I have been addicted to it (7 years). I kicked the booze which was great, but I am unable to kick this habit. I checked the internet for help. No real help achieved. I take 20 to 26 pills everyday. Trying to taper down to about half my daily dosage. Today is day 3. I have tried unsuccessfully earlier. Could not make it through more than 3 days. Any person who has recovered from this addiction? Please help me how you did it! Thanks and ever grateful.

congrats on day 3! hang in there! you should be near the end of the WD suffering now! Make sure you dont give in now and take more. you were taking a lot of pills a day...does your equivalent of darvocet also contain acetominophen like ours does? I sure hope not cuz that would be a horrific, toxic level of it to your liver.

Very sorry I could not acknowledge your reply. I expected it to be reported on my email so I could check in. Thanks a lot for your reply. What happened was that on day 4 it was very bad and I ended up getting back onto it as it was too much to bear (mentally specially). I am  a professional guitar player and I would have screwed up my concert if I was WD from it. The good thing is that I have managed to follow a new plan for myself. Forcing myself to not take more than 3 capsules together at a time. Then the intervals got shorter and it seems I am heading back to where I started and others did not reply either so yours is the only post. Acetaminophen is 400 mg per capsule so you can say there has been an ingestion of 6000 to 8000 mg a day along with the propoxyphene. My wife is on it as well .. about half of what I take, but in the evening most days she drinks a bottle or two of beer during which she does not take the pills at all. Any good??? Please help
