8 days clean today...... help!

i everyone. I dont know if im doing this site right because everytime i post i barely get a response if one at all. I look at other peoples posts and they always get a lot of people to respond. Ok, anyways today is 8 days without any pills and its getting hard. I've been back to work since last friday which is good, but i cant get my energy up. Naturally that is. What can i do, i take all my vitamins everyday. I make sure every night to exercise. I walk a mile with my daughter each day. We even run, and nothing. What does it take to feel good, not only physical but mentally too. I have days where i feel good and i can concour all, then i have days like today where i feel horrible and want to give up everything just to swallow a pill and feel good, i wont this time because i dont want to endure that horrible withdrawl again. I must admit at times i day dream about a bottle of pills, i dream at night too and the whole night im chasing pills in my sleep. Please help, i feel so weak. By the way, today is my first day off since i've been back to work and i feel so bored out of my mind. The only thoughts are of pills,

It sounds like you're doing all the right things here. None of us felt good over night! And while 8 days is great, you're still in an infancy stage as far as recovery goes.

The exercise will probably be what helps you the most!  Just keep at,keep walking, keep active, and don't take in a lot of carbs.

It's normal to have dreams about pills and to think about them. What you do with those thoughts is up to you!

It takes time for our energy to return because our brains have to "heal" and adjust to living without opiates.

This is,I think,is the 13th response you've received. That's pretty good! Let us know if you have any more questions.

I just want to say CONGRATULATIONS!!  YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB:) No matter what those negative thoughts try to whisper to you when you are feeling down, don't believe it.  The good thing about cravings & low moods is that they ALWAYS pass, without us having to do anything.  Of course distractions sometimes speed things up, but if worse comes to worse just sit with it.  The cravings can't hurt you.  I try to look at my cravings as a sign of my body and mind healing.  The new challenge we need to face now are learning new ways to handle our emotions without using pills.  It sounds like you are already off to a great start!  Keep posting!

Amino acids can come from food sources, or you can buy amino acid suplements at the store in pill form, you can find them at the larger stores that sell vitamins and natural supplements, like walmart, cosco etc. They are fairly cheap, under five bucks usually.
For energy, you can take -tyrosine  for example.

Read the "amino acid protocol" at the bottom of the main page. it's under the group heading "Most Viewed Health Pages". You might want to give them a try. They work great for a lot of people, and it sure beats dragging your butt around while you wait for your neurons and neurotransmitters to repopulate and start producing that stuff. It takes a month for them to return to 50% of normal, and nine months to a years before they are back to 100%.

thank you guys for all the advice. I feel a lot better now. I think earlier i had to much time on my hands. Thank god i work 6 days a week, help keep me real busy. Today happened to be my only day off and the mental issues were kicking in. I ended up going for a mile walk with my daughter and it really helped. I realised that the tough parts dont last to long, its just getting past that tough time. Im not blowing my 8 days clean for nothing. Just a moment of weakness i guess. Im so glad to have so many great people on my side. I never knew how bad this addiction was. Its horrible! Its weird though, now that im clean their are so many things about silk addiction coming up, its everywhere. Tv, talk shows even a lady at work was talking about how her brother was just put in rehab for his addiction to vicodin. Im just gonna take it one day at a time. Thanks again everyone.

Ugggh, I just responded and got bumped off.
Your doing great. Yes, maybe try some of the suggestions given and that will help. It's hard to not think of pills when we are feeling sluggish. I'm going through that too. Day 8.
As Gnarly says, we just have to be ok with not being ok for awhile. It will get better. Everyday without pills is a great day.
Your kicking this addictions booty!
Congrats on day 8!!!

Honestly what will make you feel best is TIME...it will take a while longer for that energy to return.
Don't get discouraged...hang in there!  It gets better everyday but it was about a month before mine was back to normal!

As far as the dreams...I had them!  I would wake up very upset thinking I had taken a pill...UGH!

yes, be careful with the Ltyrosine, start with the lowest dose and take it only in the mornings, some people can feel a bit jittery with it like after drinking a lot of caffeine , see how it works for you. I took it for the first 3  months along with the  5htp ( helps with mood ). Keep taking the vitamins and exercising...

i also had these days when i let my mind gets the worst of me, i have them from time to time and yes, it is hard seeing a brighter future and we can sink in desperation, don't let your mind run with negative thoughts, please ... think that this too shall pass ( it used to help me a lot like a sort of mantra .. :)

You should be able get all of those amino acids at any vitamin store. A lot of people say their local walgreens or walmart had them, but in my area they did not. Just google your city and "vitamin store" There should be places like Vitamin World or the Vitamin Shoppe, or something similar near you.

GNC or a vitamin "store" will have it...be careful with it though...start slow with it....it can give some people the jitters or anxiety!!

well, first of all, if you feel that you need more responses, good that you say it... :) sorry for that part... and also, 8 days clean and feeling with low energy is very, very normal, i am afraid...all the things that you are doing now to help with it, will pay off in some days ...even if you don't feel they are working, they will, trust me ... Have you tried some extra help like Ltyrosine or even 5hour energy maybe ? ... this is a long race and we have good and bad days, tnlovesjd... cravings are also very common during the first days, they come and go and then we have a good day without cravings and think that they are gone and not, they will keep coming from time to time... try doing some different activities when you have these cravings days, look for a new hobby maybe, watch some comedies, try yoga... have an open mind now..and feel proud cause you are doing well at this time :) you will be feeling better with time, hun but i know there are some really tough days, you have to be ok with not feeling ok for a time as Gnarly says
