80 days tomorrow

mornin everyone.ive been lurking around here awhile now and i see alot of new people and some friends ive met since feb.i read alot of bashing and i read alot of helpbut i read one this mornin i had to post about.this person wrote this forum is for help and not to score pills,i agree this forum is for help and everyone who knows of me knows i got alot of help from this forum.i may not post alot anymore[im just to busy anymore]but all i have to say if not for my wife and the friends who gave me the support i needed to beat my addiction id still be throwing vics down my throat and snorting oxys like crazy,i dont miss that at all anymore.being this close to being sober for 90 days is a big thing to me i havent been 90 days clean since 2001.people if you really want to quit taking pills cut all ties to them,if that means calling your doc and cutting yourself off[thats what i did,i dont care what he thinks of me im sober and i feel great about myself for doing it]i dont want to hear baby steps thats b.s.,or tapering those are all excuses for not quiting.if your serious about quiting throw your stash down the toilet and do it.w/ds are terrible but we did it to ourselves thats the price we have pay for our enjoyment    bowhunter 79 days c/t

79 days - congratulations - that must be fantastic. Only on day 7 c/t myself, but my determination is strong, I will do this, even though I still feel more or less miserable.
I don't necessily agree with you about tapering being bullshit - it didn't work for me - but I can see that it works for some - and it dosn't really matter how people do it, getting clean is the only thing that matters - and receiving support from this forum while doing it. As I have said so many times before, this forum has been invaluable for me with information and support, I honestly don't know if I would have made it this far without it.
I can understand if one feels that one's time is up posting in the forum after a while, if you are leaving - so to speak - thanks for many great posts and take care.

I dont think it its right of anybody to say tapering is BS. I applaud anyone that has gone CT and beat this addiciton. way to go! I am so glad it worked for you. But dont run down the hopes of other people. I myself Tapered succsessfully over 50 days clean so my getting sober was BS? I dont count? maybe I should use again and go CT to be accepted here? Maybe I unlike you could not take off work for 5-7 days? Maybe some peeps here are the only bread winners in thier housholds and need to stay working? Maybe people are different and CT is not for everybody just cuz it worked for you? Alot of people read the post here and running down a perfectly effective way of getting clean is not the way to go. Try a taper if it does not work go CT, if that dont work cut your arm off, If that dont work break your jaw so you cant open your mouth BUT WHAT EVER YOU DO GET CLEAN. Dont run down tapering because it did not work for you. We all have our own reasons, post positive on how good your CT routine was dont slam Tapering!

look cowboy i really dont care how you did it you did it good for you but half the people in here are never gonna quit by tapering and thats a fact you know it and i know it.so maybe they should face the fact and just go c/t.

We will have to agree to disagree. I think you are right 80% need CT just like you said. But not all. Tapering is mentally alot harder than CT. But physically way easier. I dont think you can make blank statements like that. When someone post "clean 80 days" everyone here reads it wanting to know how? Praying for inspiration. They hang on your every word, I see that what you are really Doing is the old Kick in the Pants. And I applaud that. But the words it did not work for me would have been better than Its BS. Or I did CT and I made you can too no excuses is how its done. anything but my way or the nothing.

It's good to see your post. You're doing so well. It was a hard fight for you but you won. I feel bad that I couldn't go c/t but I do want off the patches. I don't have far to go now and it's harder the closer I get. I have thought about jumping but my dr. has been so good about helping me that I don't want to mess up now that I'm so close.
Today is sunny and warm so I'll be outside most of the day. Nothing makes me feel as good as breathing the fresh air and listening to all the sounds of nature. I have a pair of red birds that come to the feeder every morning.
I'm thankful that you checked in and please do it when you can.

Take Care......LS

Bowhunter, thanks for the post...great to hear you are doing so well!  You were always so inspirational on the forum. You know how I feel about c/t v taper but I have to say there is a place for taper.....Lady Sundown could no way go c/t on a Fentanyl patch nor should anyone on Benzo's. I do think people DO have to be aware that there are consequences and personal responsibility that comes with our addictions! We got ourselves here (Maybe some Dr's had SOME responsibililty but we are all intelligent people with common sense and know how highly addictive opiates are) Iit will be very uncomfortable no matter how they decide to quit. I have seen the sufferring of Lady Sundown throught out her taper so taper does not guarantee a painless detox! Our goal is just to help each other through the best way we can and to help each other reach our goal.

Addiction is not a pretty illness and sugarcoating things leaves us less than prepared when we come up against the challenges to getting clean! I don't care much for Dr. Phil but I do appreciate his brutal honesty when dealing with addicts.  I watched the show with the twins that were heroin addicts, I was still using at the time and that was truly a wakeup call for me!  I think sometimes we want to prevent people from hurting so we tell them what we think they want to hear....I am just as guilty of this as are many....I am a coddler but am seeing that I can sometimes be enabling....it's hard to know where to draw the line.

I really do have everyone's best interest at heart and if I say the wrong thing, sorry ....I'm only human! I have very strong opinions as I see others do too and conflict sometimes arises! Sorry guys but this is the human condition....I'm not on the playground in grade school and will not be told to make nice with all the boys and girls...this is serious **** we have going on in our lives!.I am a knee jerk kind of person and  sometimes we do need a good kick in the ass...I've gotten my share of them from some old posters back in Feb when I was going through w/d....The nice ones were also helpful but I would have blown my detox if someone told me...it's ok....if you are suffering too much....go take a pill. That is ALL it would have taken for me to go right back into the cycle and justify my use.

I'm sorry for rambling but I feel I have SOME valid things to say...take it or leave it....it's anyone's choice!
Thanks
Marcie
