A non pill ??? for all smokers....

Hi all!  I have a non pill related question. I am going to attempt to quit smoking to nock another bad habit out of my life. My question is...has anyone tried Chantix?  I am about to start it but I am really nervous because I have read that it can have some serious mental side effects. Has anyone tried it?  If so, what was your experience with it?

My husband is currently taking Chantix and its been a week now and so far no side effects, but i got to tell ya we are both a little cautious on this med.  Honestly, i quit smoking 3 months ago CT, i felt that if i can kick opiates butt then cigs are a walk in the park.  I felt that with the cigs it was really mind over matter nothing like the opiates.  You can do it, just throw them away;-)

Thank you so much for your response. I knew I needed to check on this. I am the one who asked for the prescription but am now regretting it. I'm just going to wait for payday to get the patch... I'm much more comfortable with that. Thanks again everyone!!!!!

I also had a horrible experience with the Chantix. I became very angry and wanted to be violent but thankfully never actually got violent. I had horrible nightmares too so I was always scared to go to sleep. I decided to quit taking it as I figured smoking was better than prison for murder!  I have smoked for over 25 years and have quit a couple of times over the years but always went back. For Christmas, my kids got me the electronic cigarette and it is actually working. I have went from 1 pack a day to 2 cigarettes a day. I smoke 1 real one in the morning and 1 real one at night. During the day I will take a couple of puffs off the electronic one. I still get the nicotine and the sensation of smoking but am slowly breaking the habit and lowering the amount of nicotine. I'm hoping that I will be smoke free in a couple of weeks!  Best of luck!

For me it was awful. But for some it's ok. It made me violent. I have never had a violent bone in my body.
Thankfully, the violent tendencies went away about a month after stopping the pill.
