A poem on my first day of sobriety

eyes of life show me the way
let me feel my soul again
the sun hasn't stopped shinning
not even in my cave
life is worth living
even if it is in pain
the pain I feel is a deep seeded pain
a metaphysical kind that I have dreaded ever feeling again.
I will not fear this pit of hell
I will walk into that abyss of fire
I will get well
I will cower no more under the umbrella of my drugs
I will not fear my current level of intense physical pain
while these drugs leave my body and brain
I am ready to fight with all I have
I have the right to be happy, the right to be well
I will not fear what is real
I will relive what I must to take away my anger and pain
I will overcome
I will find me again.
