Hey Tenerife
The benzos should have only been used over a short time, At the time of your loss. Benzos are one of the hardest drugs to come of IE yo cant cold turket its to dangerous. As sophie says you must taper these drugs. I dont understand doctors who prescripe and just let you keep refilling when you need to. He of all ppl should know how hard it is to get of Valium, And the risks of stopping them. I get 60mgt of valium everyday but mine i have to take as i will have massive seziures So its different for me. Were i live in Scotland when we lose someone close he will prescribe but only for a couple of weeks. You must go through the greiving process naturaly These drugs will help but should only be used over a short term of time. Doctors in the U S seem to put you on a drug and as long as you can pay you will get them.To me this is complete madness Good luck and all the best you can do this only with a taper ,,,,,,,James

Hi tenerife and welcome to the forum:)

Valium is a benzo and cannot be stopped CT, Please contact your dr and ask for a tapering plan if you wanna stop it.
You have taken it for 10 years, it's gonna take you a little while to get rid of it but it's so worth it, you're so worth it.
Best of luck to you. Sophie.

Fuzzy here, read your post. I did the same. I was prescibed diazpam and tamazpam. When my mum dies. I suffered from Panic attacks. You can become emotionally addicted to them. I tapered gradually reduced. Then stopped. My point is you can become emotionally addicted very quickly and obviously the body will follow. The feeling you want to block will always be there, I found that out the hard way. Taking anything that suppresses you natural reaction to grieve feel and think, I think stops the heart, soul, body and mind to heal, accept, recover, and come to terms with citations. You must let yourself grieve its the human spirits way of expression, it hurts it hurts so bad. I know believe me I do.  Some one told me once, we cant help with what's happened, we can only help you live with it. Truest words I have ever heard. Keep posting and Fuzzy send you special hugs and wishes you well. Keep posting honey

Hi Hazel and welcome to the forum!
Zopiclone is not a benzo but it works like one. It cannot be stopped CT and needs to be tapered very slowly. If you wanna stop, please contact the dr that R'x it to you and talk to him/her about the side effect you're feeling. The memory loss is one of the side effect of this type of meds but, since the 1/2 life is kinda short what you're describing " hot, nervous and anxiety" seems to me like wd's symptoms. Maybe you've been building some tolerance....
Best of luck to you. sophie.
PS: you've been posting on an old thread, next time, if you wanna have a better feed back, start your own thread, you'll be amazed at the support you can get on here.

I was put on zoplicone because of my crazy shift work...that was in the begining of dec.09. Now I've gone through 4 bottle of zoplicone pills, containing 30 pills each. I think I have a problem..they are 7.5 pills and I take 1 1/2 each night...I've noticed I'm having alot of memory loss...and whe it leaves my system I'm getting hot, nervous, anxiety...i mean i already suffer from aniety disorder...but this is differnt...makes me think it's with drawl...I believe this may need professional help to get off of these for safety???

DO NOT THROW THEM ALL OUT NOW!! I'm not sure how much valium you're taking, but stopping them abruptly can cause convulsions or even death. Benzos have a long half life and you will get into that further as you go. It's gonna be hard and I don't blame you if you want to have a f*** the world party with some pity thrown in because you have a lot of work ahead of you.

I will try to be around for you. Giving email addresses isn't something we're supposed to do, but I'm going to in this case because except for you and MissAngel, everyone here is w/d'ing from opiates, including me this time.

Feel free to write me anytime.....LS

Oh boy I know exactly what you will be feeling when you come off valium. I won't lie, it definately isn't fun. I am on day 29 and had the crappiest day. But it does slowly get better.

Please start to think about coming off the valium but try and get your doctors help first. I tried to go c/t and if it wasn't for this site and in particular LadySundown, I would never of made it. She convinced me to see the Dr and he put me on the taper method. It was so much better.  I wish you the best and please keep posting.

Ladysundown, I sound like a broken record but your truly my inspiration around here. Much love and take care

Years ago I had to detox for a 13 yr. addiction to valium. I didn't abuse them but w/d from benzos is hell. I ended up in the hospital on the 21 day. They may be ok for a week to get through the loss of a family member or some other traumatic experience, but stop them as soon as you possibly can.

I'm not trying to scare you. I'm just warning you and hoping you never have to go through what I did. I hope things work out well for you...Take Care....LS

OH...we have a very nice lady on here who is going through benzo w/d now. She will respond to your post when she sees it, I'm sure. Her name is Miss Angel...and she truly is an angel..
