If ambien is used for a short amount of time you shouldn't have any problems. Just only take it as needed and toss it once you don't feel you need it anymore. I used it for a month and had no problems stopping it. Have you tried melatonin yet? It may be a better choice if it will work for you. I don't see how the ambien will help with anxiety though unless lack of sleep is causing it. Some people do become addicted to it but I would think they used it for a extended period of time.
Hope you can get some sleep!

My addiction doctor prescribed me trazadone for sleep because it is non addictive and is also a low level anti depressant.  It really helps me to sleep and the addiction specialist doc says it is not addictive so you might want to talk to your doctor about that.  The doctor also told me that he does not like to prescribe ambien or xanax to people in recovery because they can be addictive.  I don't really know just telling you what I was told but the trazadone works.

I am a mom as well and on my 33rd clean day.

HEY...well ambien works for some but the lack of sleep due to withdrawal can be a whole nother deal ..I was prescribed trasadone at first dident have any luck with that
and b/4 withdrawals it worked good for me...my phyc dr then perscribed tamasapam
it helped a little it would get me to sleep but wouldn't keep me asleep...I think the only thing that really helps is time...as you get your clean time in it dose get better slowly
just hang in there you will start to sleep again...give the ambien a try see if it works for you it does for some..if not I find praying in the middle of the night soothing God is all ya got at 3am good luck with your sleep ....BTW  how is your son doing?? are things clearing up in his lungs?? hope the little guy recovers soon for you God bless...Gnarly

I do agree with gnarly...actually the trazadone did not work for me at first and the first 2 weeks I basically could not sleep for more than 2-3 hours at a time.  Nothing really helped with that but once I got  through that and just needed some help getting to sleep the trazadone worked great.

Yeah its just that right after i got through the worst of wds then my baby got really sick so sleep was out then too, so my doctor, who knows my history, thought a small script for the ambien would help out a little. I took it last night and made it to about 3 am. A little better i guess. Well, thank you to all of you for your repies to me. And yes Gnarly, my little guy is getting much better, thank you for asking and thank you for your prayers, that means so much to me.  Luv, Jacky
