Addicted. How do I stop?

First off I don't know what topic I fall under lol.

Look I'm 16 I'm not addicted to a 'bad substance' as such but after constantly having what I have I think it can become very dangerous to my system.

Could you please tell me how to stop addiction (p.s I have OCD which makes it a little tricky:P )

Sorry if I'm in the wrong place I'm just looking for advice on how to stop this thing I keep doing and I suppose I'd use the same steps as anyone else dealing with addiction so please help if you can or refer me else where thanks:)

You're a very smart girl.  You're aware of your problem.  You've shared it with your parent and you've shared it with your doctor.  These are great first steps.  Since one doctor didn't take you very seriously, you'll need to find another one who will.  It appears your OCD may be driving your chewing behavior and I think a qualified therapist can help you.  Tell your mom you're scared and you serioulsy want to get professional help.  If she brushes you off, keep bugging her or seek out a therapist on your own.  Good luck.  You're very smart to take ownership and control of your problem like this.

Yes, a doctor or therapist can help you with this. He will teach you how to stop the behavior. Also, there are medicines you can take if neccessary.  But,it's important you make it clear that you're scared and it's upsetting you.  You need to really push on this and convince your mom you want help, now !!!

You need a doctor to help you LEARN how to stop.   We can't do that on the forum because you need person to person help.    Can you chew gum?  Does that help at all?

Can you explain to your Mom that it scares you and you want to stop and need help?

No because the OCD has never really been bad enough to care about it like sure I get scared sometimes but it barley interferes with my life until this obsessive chewing came out of no where. Nah it's seriously just like paper, hairbands, cardboard, plastic, like um pen lids,  or the outside of pens and um just anything I can chew that's non-nutrious it's like as long as its not real food and as long as I can't chew it, it either a) 'relaxes' me temporarily or b) it's just from habit or c) i feel like i NEED to do it or i get all annoyed about not chewing on something. I just really wanna know how to stop it ay:(

It's not  a drug or anything it's not anything out there I just chew on stuff like crazy wether it's paper or plastic or whatever and I'm really worried about the chemicals hurting my body because I do it like easily once an hour. For some reason my head tells me I need to chew and I don't know why. I just really wanna stop and I don't know how because I try to and I tried the addiction tracker on here but it just made me realise after I chewed a few things that it's hopeless. I just dunno ay. And I told my mum and shes all like its just your OCD you can't help it and I'm like HELLO this could be killing me lol:|

Yeh I just thought coming here you'd know how to deal with stopping addiction and maybe could tell me what to do to stop it because you guys are obviously helping a lot of people out so you must know right?

You do need to share with us what it is your addicted to. Even if it's embarrassing the first step in overcoming any addiction is admitting you have the problem.
