Addicted to pain pills and pregnant

I am 4 1/2 months pregnant and I am addicted to pain pills. I dont wanna beat around and say , No I dont take many or havent known I was pregnant , cause I would be lying. I just got medicaid yesterday and now I can go to the OB tomorrow.
I do care and I am so stupid not to have realized how stupid I am till now. My pain was over bearring me and I didnt care.
Do I ask for help ? I am scared for 2 reasons. I dont want my baby taken from me . Actually thats why. Do I quit cold turkey now ? Im willing to do anything I have to . I just need the guideness and the honest truth.
Please help

Hi, I just wanted to comment to let you know that this is a slow time on the board for people to reply but they will.  I hope someone that knows about pregnancy and pain pills can answer your questions before you see your OB tomorrow.

Don't beat yourself up.  The main thing is that you are dealing with it now.  Keep checking that knows more than me will help you soon.  hugs lyn

Hi and welcome to the forum.  We are glad you found us.......

Please talk with your OB and tell him/her the truth.  They have dealt with this before and will be able to help you with a taper plan.  You dont want to go cold turkey while pg.  Noone will take your baby as long as you are honest.  I know you are scared and that is normal to feel that way.  What a great thing you will be doing for your baby and you by telling them what is going on.  It will be okay.  We are here to support you so keep us updated on how you are doing and what the OB says.  We have other moms on here who have delivered healthy babies.        sara

Don't be too hard on yourself. Think it not strange that someone gets addicted to an addictive substance. It happens to the best. You have taken the first and Biggest step. You've admitted a problem and know you need to do something about it. Sara is absolutely right. Be honest with your doctor. They will help you. Don't try to do this alone. Let them help you, but be honest with them.
You can do this!
