Addiction, Recovery, Forgiveness, and Forgetfuless

Here's a post I left at the other Community Board that I thought we could learn from as well...

You know, as addicts, we all tend to move our lives towards chaos. We like drama in our lives. There's something dangerous and sinister about popping pills and getting high. When the chaos becomes too much to bear, we move towards sobriety and learn to reign in the chaos. so is the road to recovery. On that journey to a drug free life, we must learn to remove temptation from our lives. The dangerous and sinister must be turned away and our lives placed in more level headed hands. Learning who and what to surround ourselves by is a big step to sobriety and clean living. We can practice that, right here, everyday. When we see negativity, either as a personal attack or condescending post, we must allow ourselves to be unbothered by it. We must not let it transcend chaos. We must ignore it. To do otherwise will allow the poster to get what they want, chaos. So, in a nutshell, what I am saying is this...read the posts that help with your recovery, and as a part of your recovery, ignore the posts that negatively affect your sobriety. Lashing out just causes the chaos that the poster craves. Make it a part of your recovery to remove bad influences from your life. Sometimes the loudest and most strongly worded words is silence.

On a personal note, I respect and admire any person who will reach out to help someone else. We all have our roads to recovery. Choose your road and follow it proudly.
