Addiction/.Physical depance whatever you want to call it...

I was watching House and it got me thinking...We chronic pain have a double edge sword...We have pain and treat it with pills...But, we are still have the problem that addicts have...

I have built a tolerance to pain medication and my pain has got worse...The reason I came here was to quit and be pain free...I found out being 7 c/t that I did have w/d symtoms (symptoms) and that makes me sad...

I want to be able to function, but I realized that I can't right now...Hopefully I can get my pain stable and be able to quit again...I just don't want to keep increasing my dose because the pain amount is not working...

The doctors want me to take percoset but I refuse...I am on norco and still in pain, but can function most of the time...Without any pain relief I can't even get out of bed or walk...

Anyway, I just wanted to talk and share my pain...I wish I didn't have this pain and didn't have to take these pills...

Take care everyone...

There is no doubt that some people are in such pain that they require painkillers. Please don't feel guilty about that. Just get by on the lowest amount that will help the pain and never take more than the dr. Rx's.

I know a man who is going through the same thing. He tried to w/d from all meds and was in such pain he couldn't move. That's not addiction, it's dependent.

Please take care....LS

You didn't describe your pain. Do you have a definite diagnosis from a physician that would indicate treatment with a narcotic analgesic. Sometimes there are options, sometimes there are not, depending on your comfort level.
If you don't mind, fill me in on your symptoms and why you are being treated.
Don't worry about stopping the med at this point. Take care....Rik
