Addiction and mental maturity

I have heard it said that there is documented evidence that drug addiction stunts your growth. I am taking a class in sociology and would like to back up my assertion with evidence can you tell me where a lay person such as myself can go for information?

I would only guess it stunts your growth if your adolescent. I know bufuren does stunt protien synthesis i.e. muscle growth.  But acta. does not. But my biggest turn on to Hydrocodone was the starving feeling it gave me. I am a amatuer bodybuilder and a hardgainer (cant gain weight easily). I have a very high metabolism so ive always been cut just not a mass monster. 2yrs ago i got super serious about bodybuilding after 8 yrs of doing all the wrong stuff in the gym. The amount of food u have to eat to gain new muscle if your not genetically gifted is insane. But the pills gave me that sense of never feeling full so i could eat 4 pieces of chicken within 2-3hrs apart from each other which at the time felt like a god send. Now I just realize it was a slippery slop i was going down. Yes i did reach my goals i gained 30lbs within that 2yrs but at the cost of my body turning into total ****. WOW i just realized i got totally off subject. Let me stop disregard the latter of the letter.
