Addiction

23 days in and pretty much doing this alone.."yes" this is the hardest thing I've done in well forever. Vicoden has been a big part of my life for at least 25 years, and I'm just noe starting to feel. Is anyone doing this without help? Is it even possible to do alone?

I started out alone hun. I was 8 days into it when I found this forum. So far I've read alot if inspiring and encouraging things and now that I'm 13 days sober I realize I'm not alone. I've got this place. I've got a good friend that I met on here. And I've been to 2 na meetings so far and plan to keep going.  Your not alone. If u think you are then keep reading here. You really should go to a meeting too. I was scared and nervous until I realized everyone there was or is going through the exact same thing I am. You can do it. You are doing it. But you don't have to do it alone. We are here for you!  Keep coming back. Keep faith in yourself!  Stay strong!!!

HI....welcome to the forum....you can detox alone but its tuff.....it is almost impossible to stay clean without some form of aftercare.....just ask anyone on this forum with any amount of significant clean time and they will almost always tell you aftercare is the key to success
addiction is a desiese and dosent just go away because you detox...there are deeper roots that drive you to the pills in the first place...its a deeper problem then the pills it is the escape or relaxation where after...without the coping skills and tools learned in aftercare your just a dry addict...with N/A or A/A or a substance abuse conslor or addiction therapist you will dig down to the root issues of why we need the drugs in the first place...you can live in recovery and have a normal life or you can let your addiction run your life going in and out of active addiction with periods of abstinence but the cycle is likely to repeat itself if left untreated...thats why we always say getting clean is the ez part staying clean takes all the work aftercare should not be considered optional it is a critical part of staying clean and living in recovery...good luck to you get pluged in somewhere and you will have a successful recovery.......God bless.....Gnarly

You are doing great. It is possibel to do this alone but it is very difficult. As mentioned in the prvoius post NA is an excellent option. You will receive some great support and you will be held lovingly accountable to your recovery efforts.

You are doing it hon. And yes, you can do it alone but you don't have to be. Come here, write to us, we will listen and we will help as much as we can. Also, try a NA meeting in your area. You will find folks who are trying to stay clean, just as you are and you will find support there and probably a new friend or two. Keep going, you can do this!
