Additions

Trying to find treatment center for family member who is 45 y/o cauc. femaile that has a chemical dependency problem and I believe addictive personalility.  What health/withdrall issues might I see if they are hooked on Lortab 7.5 (6-8 tabs daily), adderall (adderrall) 20mg (6 daily), Neurontin, Soma, Effexor, Xanax, and she smokes just to name a few.  Her last Physician stopped filling her Lortab and she is right now going cold-turkey without them.  She has been on them for over 15 years straight.  I have always been concerned for her health but just since January she is starting to figure out she "might have a problem."  She is receptive to treatment but what can we do to start a positive recovery with her polypharmacy?  Is there health risks with her going without the Lortab?  What should I watch for?

There is no harm in detoxing from Loratab. I'm not sure about some of the other meds, but the xanax MUST be tapered off.  SHE MUST NOT GO COLD TURKEY OFF BENZO'S.  This would be very dangerous. It sounds like with all the medication she is taking , she really needs to be under a doctors supervision to get off them.  With the Loratab she will have flu like symptoms for a week and feel like dieing , but won't.   With this long term use , she probably should be in rehab.  Best wishes and keep us posted.

I'm on Day 28-cold turkey (c/t) from Opiates (Lortabs. Norco, Vicodin) Was on about 10-20 Lortab 10's a day-spending about $300/week & I've never felt better!!! Some of the immediate symptoms are shakes, no appetite, no energy, nauseousnes (vomiting), irritability, no sleep, hot sweats, mood swings, migraines, cramps, aches & pains, just to name a few. The most important thing is for her to have a support team-people around her that love & support her. Does she want to stop? She really has to want to stop-on her own;that's the only way 2 do it. Trust me-if I can do it-anybody can!! I was in bed for the first week & my suppoortive fiancee catered me, took care of the house & my son. I wouldn't have made it w/out him-Day 3 was the absolute worst!!! We are here 4 u-you've come 2 the right place-these people on here have helped me to stay strong!!
