you need to find something to occupy your time... if you have too much time on your hands, you will break, and time will go by very slowly....

by MissBecca24, Jan 16, 2008 08:35AM

Girl you need to get a good book to read. A good book will occupy the part of the mind that makes you thing of the pills. When your reading you can't think of the pills because you are thinking of the book. It can't be just any book it has to be something you really like to read about or try a jigsaw puzzle,it will keep your mind from wondering. Sitting around thinking about it will never work, all your gonna do is think about is how much this sucks and then the negativatey kicks in. You need to force yourself into the mindset that this is not so bad and its not. Like I said before,it's no worse than a bad cold or the flu. When we have a cold we all say **** I've got this damn cold but know that in a few days it will be over. Hell we've been going through colds since we were little kids so your are a veteren at this. There is a part of you that does not want to quit and thats what your having the most trouble with. That part is all mental, win the battle and you will beat this and be back on top of the world in no time.--John

Hi Tiffany!  I checked this forum to see how you were doing since your posts yesterday.  I agree with everyone else.  You HAVE to and MUST occupy your time.  I know you said that motivation just wasn't there, but you have to beat this demon.  Just get up and do it.  This is hard work, you aren't just going to wake up and be o.k.  It's gradual and you need to dig down deep and find the strength to move on.  Take a walk, go to the library and check out some books.  These things don't cost money.  Actually, maybe check out a book on addiciton.  There is a great book out there titled, "AA to Z".  I'm not sure who the author is.

Make yourself think of positive things. Make a list of things you are grateful for. NOW!  Start with grateful you dont have to do your first 2 days again. You should beable to make a list of at least 30 things. Don't play the negative tapes. "I can't ....etc etc.  You are getting clean and you CAN think of some good things. Come on girl you are doing it!!! You're brave, strong, smart etc.  Clean!

1. Book - I recommend a book titled: The Heroin Diaries by Nikki Sixx. Every addict will take away something good when this book is read. There are so many good books out there on addiction that you can relate to. Just forget the self help books for now, they will irritate the sh*t out of you at this point in the juncture. Oh and Dr. Phil sucks.

2. Hot bath

3. 800 -1,000 mgs Ibuprofen

4. Xanax or something to take the edge off

5. Your favorite ice cream

6. Water....lots of water

7. If you have a partner, have them give you a massage. It will loosen up your muscles and get some of those toxins out of your skin

8. Go shopping. LOL!

9. Work out and feel the burn in your body, take a Valium or Xanax, THEN take a hot bath, drink some of your fav hot tea while in the bath, and wala....you are in nighty night zone.

You can do it. Congrats and luck to you. : )

Peace

don't worry about the energy just yet,it will come around day 3-4. Use this time to rest if possible and reflect on the past and how you are going to do things different when clean. Tiffany if you can sleep, sleep and when you cant do some reading and hot showers. Eat when you can and drink lots of fluids. Keep taking your vitamins and in a couple days you be getting over your cold and coming out of your fog. I wish you all the luck in NH. Sorry cant give you the luck from TX I need it. LOL You can do this girl, you would'nt still be here if you did'nt truly want to quit. You will make us all proud i have faith in you. John

by hopsing94, Jan 16, 2008 01:20PM

try a hot bath or shower. Unfotunately the sweats are part of the detox. I hate that part. Sounds like your doing good. Keep up the good work.

I just took a bath with epsom salt with lavender, it was great :) I havent taken a bath in years so even just being able to relax in there was great. my mom came back with all my stuff when i got out, now im back to my comfy bed on the couch, I feel like Im doing good...but its just started, I just gotta stay in this mindframe and I'll be ok..quick question, for at night when I cant sleep is it ok to take ny-quil gel caps, i mean its for aches and pains and helps you sleep...but i wasnt sure if its a good idea to take it...

Another thing, should I start the L-Tyrosine now, I really want my energry back...and if so how much should I take?

by nogie1717, Jan 16, 2008 02:31PM
To: Tiff
I take L-tyrosine once in the morning and once at night for the first month and then only once a day in the morning with the rest of my meds.

Try to watch funny movies, ones without drugs!!  I watched "Grandma's Boy" while in the w/d's and it was awful.  I wanted some pot sooo bad!  Even though my DOC was Methadone, pot was a big part of my regimen.

Good luck.

Yeah Ive been trying to watch un-druggy movies, I almost broke down when I got a pop-up from Monster.com that said "Are you Getting the perks you deserve" so any drug related thing I see I might get a little upset haha.

So I shouldnt take the L-Tyrosine now??

by hopsing94, Jan 16, 2008 02:38PM

yep start taking it now and your can take up to 4000mgs a day. Start with 2000 and see how that works. It might make you a little more restless if you take to much. Those baths are great huh. Tiff when I quit i could'nt sleep if you hit me with a brick so, if that helps go for it. I took xanax one day ambien the next and tylenol pm on other nights. Your doing great Tiff keep up the good work. You still sound like your in good spirits and thats good. Your mindset sounds good. When the cravings kick in and they will, don't underestimate the power of reading your book. Keep that mindset that its just a cold and it will be over soon. Like I said before if you can sleep, sleep. Don't even think about whats goin on the next couple days. One week of hibernating for a lifetime of joy is a pretty good tradeoff.
