Alcohol and Zyban

It had been quite some time since I drank heavily.  I had been working out at the local gym and had done quite well.  I was on Zyban to kick the habit, and this last weekend, I had a fair amount to drink (8-10 drinks).  I had a mind blank, and still remember very little, but I had tried to outrun the police after crashing through three fences.  I was then taken to the hospital after the van I was driving burnt to the ground.  I escaped custody there and ran home where I took another vehicle and had another police chase.  I ended up in jail with many charges which include the following:

Impaired Driving
Dangerous Driving (2 counts)
Escape Lawful Custody
Willful Damage

I don't remember more than a few snippits of this, like a few 3-5 minute windows during this time.  I woke up in jail, confused and astonished to learn this. I became extrememly upset (wouldn't you be?).  I had never had a problem with Zyban and alcohol before, so what the hell happened?  Could someone explain why I became a different person, paranoid and afraid of everyone, and somewhat convinced that the world was going to end or something?????

I know that wellbutrin (zyban) diminishes alcohol's effect to some degree. It could be that you noticed you weren't getting intoxicated so you kept on drinking trying to "get it going."

The only advice I have for you pertains to your legal issues. I would plead NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY due to the medication.

Otherwise, take it easy on the booze.

Hi, I'm presuming the worst and going to say sorry to hear that... I started zyban 8 days ago and was just looking through peoples experiences. I drink 4 cans of  4 %  lager most nights and was not told about the effects of alcohol by my doctor, it was my research that brought it to my attention, apparently if you drink and suddenly stop it can cause seizures.... im going to have a few tonight and see the doc in the morning, think ill stick on the patches

yes taking drinking on zyban can be a very bad idea ...I would not drink while taking it

guess i am in a bad way.... tomorrow i will stop zyban before i ruin my life, patches for me.... just foud my sekf crying for no reason thinking my life was over, its passed, i feel ok now..... tis is a dangerous drug
