Allergies

by chelas36, Nov 26, 2007 10:12AM
I also have the same reaction.  My father was an alcoholic... I started drinking when I was young,  say 17.  Now I’m 36.   And I get these reactions that have been occurring more frequently and more severe, every time with less alcohol.

Since I love to drink,  I started taking Allegra in order to stop the allergic reaction (after 4 drinks,  specially with rum,  my face would turn red, my hands and feet start to itch, and the reaction continues to grow if I don’t stop drinking)   but now,  not even the allegra is able to stop this reaction.

I would really like to know if I have an alternative medicine to prevent this,  or if I’m doing serious damage to my body,   fact is I believe I’m an alcoholic so,   what choices do you think I have?

the obvious answer would be to stop drinking. you would not continue to use penicillin if you had an allergic reaction. you certainly would not look for a medication just so you could use the substance. you stated you believe you are an alcoholic. that is the first step of sobriety, and a solution to your problem.

honey... when i read your statement "after 4 drinks" i thought, wow, this girl can drink!!!

that's alot of booze, especially for a woman.  i'm not judging - i like to drink too - but i know for me personally, after 2 - if i COULD drink more than 2 - i'd be lights out!

honey, like everyone said - it's alot.  it's simply alot of booze and your body is screaming a message at you loud and clear.. so hear it if you can.

also - i hope you realize there is no judgement in my (or anyone's) words... we're all addicts, just a different d.o.c...

listen to your bod... at the very least, cut back if you can...

take good care,
mj
