Alprazolam (xanax) with alcohol

Hi, I just recently joined this forum and I have posted 1 question already.
my 2nd Question is this:

I drink quite a bit.... Now one or twice a week (drunk)

I have told my doctor this and he prescribed me .5mg xanax
twice daily. I have read that you should not drink with xanax, but it doesnt say this on my pill bottle. So am I able to drink with xanax? or should I avoid this?

avoid it.. alcohol and benzo's are a dangerous combination.. they both slow breathing down.. xanax can intesify the alcohol.. I am shocked it doesn't say so on your bottle.. also avoid grapefruit it makes the xanax more concentrated in your bloodstream and also is dangerous.

it is illegal to prescribe xanax to someone who has a drinking problem. i have had a very serious addiction to xanax 8mg a day, plus 4mg klonipan, and,30 mg of temazapem. and i am a alcoholic. alcoholisim is a progressive desease. some people get drunk twice a week and stay there and some others turn into even worse and you can not stop. xanax is very much like alcohol. it acts on the same brain receptiors as alcohol. the combination is deadly. depression and sucicide are not uncommon. the withdraws from the xanax is not even describable. it is so bad. its been 10 months now and i'm finally seeing the light of day. i wish i knew then what i know now.

Jeez that's scary.  I can't count how many people I've known who take the occasional (or more) xanax and drink heavily.  I'm a social drinker and I have a low dose xanax script that I take occasionally for stress from PAWS but I'd never mix the two.

I am willing to bet that if you read the PIP (product information pamplet) that comes with your zanax you will find that warning....among others - -

I wouldnt i did that for years , many moons ago ended up in a whole lotta situations, once i woke up to find 10 pot plants in my house and im not sure how i got them lol..
