Am I having withdrawl symptoms from Vicodin?

by paguy7706, Dec 22, 2006 12:00AM
I have been taking Vicodin for a little over 6 weeks now.  I have degenerative disc disease in three discs and one of the discs is majorly herniated and leaking.  I am scheduled to have a disc replacement in one month.  I am in severe pain.  My doctor suggested doubling the dose of vicodin.  I did so and got really sick.  Vomitting, diareahea, loss of sleep, major headaches, aches and pains in my legs. It has been two days since I took the vicodin.  My back is absolutely killing me, but I cannot take anymore vicodin.  I feel like I will get sick again and I am also feeling like I am going through withdrawl and do not want to go on them again.  Is there anything I can do to overcome these problems?  The headaches and leg pains are the worst!  How long will I have these problems?  Please help!

Thank you for the info.  I am able to manage the pain in my back.  I actually think my headache from the vicodin is worse.  Sleeping at night is terrible.  My mind races and my legs hurt so bad.  I am up 4 or 5 hours until I actually fall asleep.  I am going to stay off any pain pills as long as I can until the surgery in Jan.  Today is my second day of not being on the vicodin.  I am thinking that the headache should go away within a day or to.  At least I hope so.  It will be terrible to go through the holidays like this!

You should be fine.  Six weeks is nothing, comparatively speaking.  It should be an easy ride for you.  :)
