Ive been on ambien for 6 years. I buy it from a pharmacist and only allow myself 1 per day, always before bed. I find that it doesnt work like it first did but fortunately Im really strong and able to keep it at one a day. There have been times I didnt have it and could not sleep at all... I went once for about 8 days without it and I was like a zombie, it was hell not being able to sleep and my heart racing all night long...  Also, ambien makes you do the craziest things. My friends tell me I text and call them but I dont remember doing that.. and I once had sex with a guy who was only a friend because he claims I called him and begged him so he obliged.. I only knew because I found condom wrappers in my garbage the next morning and thankgod he said I insisted on those too.
The point is, if you are taking more than one at night for sleep issues you do need to address that but I dont want you to feel alone, I know at least 3 other people besides myself personally, with ambien issues. Good luck!

I am in the same boat but I have taken it a bit further. I am 5 months pregnant and still can not get off the Ambien. I ended up putting myself in rehab after about 1 yr and a half on it because I would take 2 to go to sleep and then wake up to an empty bottle and my hair colored and all kinds of stuff. I got off the Ambien but ended up on xanax and used that the same way. For me I feel I am not addicted to Ambien but I am addicted to sleep. Thats what I use to get away from whatever I am feeling. I have been on Ambien 4 years and now my Dr says I can take an extra dose to get back to sleep if I need to but I usually want to take 1 during the day too. I really do feel your pain because it causes a lot of trouble in my marriage and family life. I will be praying for you.

Not forever but it will take effort.     You need to get some special help as soon as possible.    Not only are you high in dose but you're taking it during the day which is not how it's used.     You're probably using this drug like you would a benzo drug.     While you can't afford to go into rehab,  you need to look in your area to see what help you can get.
