Another drug to help me wd

I am wondering if I should go on subloxene to quit a 3-4 pill a day habit for the last 2 years.  What are the thoughts on going this route?  I have a doctors appt today.  Don't need advise just people's point of views.  Thanks

I feel the need to observe that doses of LSD will also keep one from using narcotics - - much the same as ibogaine. I do have some experience with ibogaine, but I didnt use it to quit a narcotic habit.  i was merely interested in it - as in most psychoactive drugs. I couldnt endorse the use of ibogaine to quit - - the potential trade offs are just not worth it.

Has anyone here ever heard of Ibogaine?  I know it is not legal in the US, but it is in other countries.  I have been doing some research on Ibogaine.  From what I have read, people have nothing but good things to say about it.  The only con is that it is expensive, but if you add up what we spend in a year or so on whatever maintenance drug, Ibogaine is cheap.  Just wondering if anyone has had any experience or knowledge about this.

Umm, maybe that was a little too "cheerleadery" right now - since you're probably not feeling too great.  Sorry about that.

But it will get better - slowly but surely it will.

IMO subs have their place for people who have been taking large amounts of heavy drugs i.e.herion, high dose oxycontin or need extensive addiction treatment and may not be able to stay clean without subs as it reduces cravings. Subs should not be used as a free pass from w/d as w/d from subs maybe rougher than the other drugs you were originally addicted to. If you go C/T it will only last 3-5 days if you go the sub route it could be months.

Sophie I was on 4 max per day 10mg lortab....you can read my tireless posts.....I was on for 4 years and have been off for 12 days soon to be 14 Friday....read thru my scared posts it will help you in what you are feeling.......You can easily do this time to do it now and avoid the slippery slope.....

You don't need to even think about anything other than a taper however I would just drop them I tapered first week and went cold after 4 days and frankly most of my withdrawls happenned second day of the taper. Skip any thoughts about Suboxone---you won't even need to go there.

Really you can do this as they say in High School Musical which my girls watch tirelessly...

Keep your head in the game...:0)

Congrats on getting off make it happen..

Thanks everyone.  I am going to try and do it without the sub.  I was taking vicodin for the past 2 years.  At most I take 4 a day.

I think it's great that you're able to reach out and help someone now, opie29, with what you're going through.  Says a lot about your resolve and your STRENGTH!

I definitely agree with basilwancer.  It really depends on what type of med you were or are on.  But trust me, if it is just vicodin or something like that, than I would not go on subs for a 3 pill a day habit.  If by some chance you do go on subs, I would take them for no longer than 2 weeks.  That is what I would do.

And check out today's post from opie29 - that will give you an idea of what to expect from taking subs.

Good luck to you - you CAN do this - and this place will be a huge support for you as well.  :)

I agree and also it would be good to know exactly what you're taking!

It doesn't sound like a lot to me so SUB would be like using Nitro to kill a fly!  Plus it's very expensive AND you'll need to quit that and suffer that withdrawal...UGH!!

NO!  I do not believe the subs will help you.

Your habit is relatively mild - 3 to 4 pills a day is totally doable to just quit cold turkey.  Taking more drugs to get off of drugs is senseless.

There are a ton of home remedies to help you through this - continue to reach out for support and you'll get there.  PLEASE reconsider the subs route - it will only prolong the inevitable withdrawal.  The sooner you stop, the sooner you'll start to feel better.

Good luck to you!

You probably need to qualify your question with the type of pill - ie a 5mg hydrocodone is a far cry from an oxy80...

I really had problems with Suboxone when I took it a few years ago.  Sophie - if you want more info about my experience you can private message me, it's not anything I'm really comfortable posting in the forum.
Good luck!!
