Anti-Anxiety / Muscle Relaxant Medication For WD's?

Anti-Anxiety / Muscle Relaxant Medication For WD's?

Hey everyone....  I'm on my 2nd day of WD's.... (again) and it's not really super bad this time... just kinda sorta miserable.  I took a Tylenol PM last night and it helped me fall asleep but I woke up about every 1.5 - 2 hours.  This morning I'm pretty tired.  This is the 2nd night in a row of very little sleep.

I know this is common during WD's but it is the worst part of the whole thing for me.  Even worse than the squirts... I know... I know...  not a pleasant topic but you all know what I'm talking about.  Here's my question...

I called my doc this morning (he doesn't know I'm withdrawing) and asked him if there was anything I could take to help me sleep a little better.  His reply;  you bet... I'll call something in for you this afternoon.  He didn't say what it was other than it is an anti-anxiety / muscle relaxant.  Are medications of this sort addicting?  I know a little about pain meds and that's it.  I don't have any experience with any other type of pills.  Thanks in advance!

Sounds like he may call you in some soma which is a muscle w/an anti anxiety drug in it called Miltown. If i am right be careful not to take more than 2 at a time as it will cause you to lose muscle control. But this is usually common in high doses like 3 or more. They are very addicting especially when combined with hydrocode. It produces a very euphoric high that last about 45 minutes.
He may call in ambien cr very expensive like about $2.00 a piece. I hope you have insurance. If he calls in 20, well you do the math. The soma is not that cheap either but worth the cost. You don't have to pick up the whole script if he calls 30 you can say give me 10 for now. They both are CIII drugs. Has he ever given you benzos in the past, like Valium, xanax? Good Luck---NOAH

Yup... I've had Diazepam before but very small doses and for only about 3 days.  It was given to me for back spasms but the Doc said that it wouldn't be Diazepam this time around.  I've heard nasty things about Soma and yes, I have insurance.  5 bucks for any script.  Thanks a bunch for your reply!

I'm going through the same thing as you, went and picked up a script for valium, and I'm hoping this will help with my w/d's. I'm currently feeling the effects of one right now, and I must say that it relieves the pain a little, but makes it so you don't focus on the w/d's, which I'm loving currently, it's weird, it's almost like this little thing in my brain where I start to dwell on the w/d's, and then the meds go, hell no, think about something else, weird I know, but currently helping me.

Thanks again...  I got back from the pharmacy and what the Doc prescribed was (30) 1mg tablets of Lorazepam (Avitan).  I'm supposed to take 1 tablet at night before bed for sleep.  I've done a little research and see that I need to be careful with it because it can also be addicting.  How does that work if I'm just going to sleep anyway?  I'd never take anything that makes me sleepy during the day!  No way!

Anyway, we'll see how it works.  He gave me a months supply with 5 refills so I guess it turns out to be a 6 month prescription.  I certainly hope it doesn't take that long to get a full, natural, un-medicated, night of sleep.  Jeez...  I don't think I've ever been given a 6 month prescription for anything.  Does that seem like a lot to you?  Keep in mind the situation...  Day 2 WD's...  feel a little miserable.  Called the Doc for some sleep aid and this is what he prescribed.  It's only intended to work on one of the WD's.... Sleep!

If you have any precautions of information I should know about Lorazepam (Avitan) please feel free to post.  I plan on taking 1 tablet at night and that's it.  I'm not sure how I would abuse this drug.  Thanks in advance!

I would be careful with the Lorazepam as it is very addicting also...my doctor just gave me Zanax to help me but from everyones posts it scared the c r a p out of me so i have only taken 2 total - 2 days apart....i am really glad i was armed with the information from everyone here to know not to take as prescribed at 2/day....that is the last thing i need is to get addicted to another drug trying to get off another one.

Keep posting and you will get alot of support to help you through this rough patch...You can do it!!!

Do you have a tolerance for benzo's, Because Ativan is a straight up benzo, A short acting benzo.Try one tonight before bed. Wait until 10 minutes before bed. Then take one as directed, It will defineatly help with the withdrawal, They are very much like xanax and just as addicting, The fact he gave you 5 refills which is the max by law, He must not be aware of your problem, If you want to detox safely break the tablet in half and take half around noon and half at bedtime, This may work. Otherwise you'll have anxiety and panic attacks all day, Take a full one tonight but dont exceed the 1mg dose per day, Good Luck------NOAH

Well... last night was the first trial of the Lorazepam and I took it at about 8:00pm.  I was watching the RedSox game and don't know what time I fell asleep in my chair.  It must have been around 9:00 or so.  My wife came home around 10:00pm and I went straight to bed.  I woke up right at 6:00am without any interruptions.  I must say that it did make me sleep.  I don't take them for anxiety as I have fortunately never had a panic attack.  They may be addictive but I'd never take one during the day.  I'm not exactly sure how I would manage during the day if I did take one.  That thing knocked me out!  Thanks for all your replies!
