Anxiety and weakness

Hello, I took Heroin for 4 years..heavily, I was then on Subatex for approx 3 odd years. I tapered the Subatex to a minimal whilst working and now have been off work for 3 weeks.  It's surprised me I feel so anxious and have no control over it.  also extreemly weak and achey. My Dr said it would have been out of my system in 3 days... didn't really help as this made me feel I was loosing the plot.  Does anyone know if this is normal? Do I just need to be patient with all this? I am taking no other med at the moment at all.  Thanks for any support..Rachel

Google "PAWS"  post accute withdrawl syndrome... its probably what you are experiencing..  there are supplements that can naturally help with anxiety.. such as 5HTP, L-theanine and others..

Delay whilst googling the products you mentioned.  Interestingly when you google in UK for 5-HTP there is no links at all.  Do you know if this is available in the uk? I can't believe I've done all this on my own so far without asking someone who may have personal experience for advice.  I'm seeing a Chioropractor and bowen technique worker at the moment trying to do things naturally as the reason I took the opiates in the first place was due to a pelvic problem, do you know anything about these techniques helping in general with getting my body back to a more normal state?

hmmm. in the UK not sure.. do you have a health food store or vitamin shop?? those things would be found there if so.. as far as the other treatment.. I am not sure either.. I would think anything of that nature would be helpful at getting you feeling better..

Thanks for your help.
I've now find out where to get the supplements you mentioned If interested I shall keep you posted about the Bowen Technique.  He made some real changes in my anxiety and sleeping at my first session, although not all sorted.  I have another session this week.  If this type of therepy can work for me then maybe it can help others who are fighting to cope with withdrawls and recovery.

The Bowen Technique works as simple thereputic moves over the facsia of the body.  I told my therepist about my history.  They treat the whole body.
It has something to do with the way that the brain reacts to neural stimuli.  A bowen move is a series of rolling moves(across the fascia of the body- very gentle)  followed by breaks at certain intervals interfering with the signal and creating another set of parameters for the brain to examine.  Once the brain starts to  reorder the signals it is able to interpret the information coming from other areas.
