Anxiety suggestions? Help?

Hello!  I am at 97 days and still doing the happy dance but I am still having major issues with anxiety.  It comes on sudden in the middle of the day or night.  So tight in my chest and throat.  and major nervous stomach issues and its hard to focus with the tightness.  I have ready so many bad and dangerous things about anti-anxiety medication that I am scared to reach out to my doc.  I keep telling myself that it will be ok, just need to hang on.  I have tried 5HTP with little success.  I am not taking any other meds, except advil.  Any suggestions???

I don't know if this is relevant to you since you have found the culprit, but I started using some rub on NSAIDS that my husband had.  I began to get spikes in BP and rapid pulse.  I read somewhere that getting too much NSAID, ibuprofen, advil can cause these symptoms.  I figured I rubbed too much into my skin.  I dunno.  We'll see.  It seems to have subsided.

kava kava is also a natural help for anxiety. if you take it, get ready for some awesome dreams while sleeping.  it will help you sleep too.

Hi... i went through the same as you with the anxiety... when i was six months i started CBT Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and this is what has helped me with anxiety... Valerian root is a help , it has helped me but until i started working on my frame of mind and how i deal with my fears, i didn't find a way of dealing with my anxiety "naturally".. I really advice you to give a try to therapy, perchance....

St. John's Wort takes a while to work - I believe they say 2-6 weeks.    I'm a huge SJW fan ... HUGE.

If you're considering it, I wouldn't wait till after the holiday.

Hope you're feeling better soon ... and congrats on 97 days!

STOP the 5htp - do not "wait it out" - stop for a few days and see what happens... I'm telling you that stuff will rev you up...

I agree...5 HTP just gets a lot of folks too "jiggy"...

St. John's, SamE, L-tryptophan are some you can try and Valerian Root is very good,as crazin said. It's called "natures valium".  LOL!

Also, this may not be anxiety....it could be a GI problem or a sudden rise in B/P. Just be sure to look at everything but it doesn't hurt to try one of the amino acids, too!

You're almost in triple digits!!!

Be careful with the 5htp - it made me SUPER anxious and jittery.  I tried it once and never went back.  So that might be what's causing all this anxiety?

Try St. John's wort - it worked wonders for me - better than any prescribed AD (course that was just me) - but you should consider it.  :)

The only thing that is natural and has helped anxiety in my case is Valerian Root. There are also plenty of non-addictive meds you can try. Atarax is a prescription anti-histamine that is often prescribed, and very helpful for anxiety. Good Luck!
