Anxiety...Will a klonopin help?

Hi everyone, on day 3 still! I keep thinking about how this will be gone soon. I can't wait for that. Anyways, I have had anxiety today. I have got all the stuff for the Thomas Recipe except for the Valium. That is a prescribed drug that would be tough for me to get. However, my roommate takes klonopins for his bipolar and gave me one. Think it will work for the anxiety and maybe even for my sleeping that I need tonight? He also has ambien if I need it but I want to get rid of my anxiousness! Thanks everyone

Chi Chi,
All I'm saying is that many drugs have many uses/indications.  The doc considers the desired effect, side effects, and indications of any drug first.  Klonopin is often prescribed to help control bi-polar mania (acts like an antipsychotic).  It, as well as Valium both are good as anticonvulants.  Nothing is never or always, and I'm not trying to fight or argue or anything like that.  It's just that there's tons of info and uses for so many drugs and that's why my first post in response was, "What do you want to know?"  Since a response wasn't posted I tried to give information about typical uses.  Not their only ones.  I had to consider context here, that's all.  There are many options to help someone get through the w/d s/s we're all going through here, and each option may or may not be right for each person, even if the option has the right indication for the problem, that's all.  Understand?  Like, If you have anxiety related to test taking for example, it wouldn't be the first choice to use Klonopin, but rather a diff. med.  If one has chronic, generalized anxiety disorder, a med like Buspar, which is for just that, may be used.  There is no immediated right or wrong answer for anyone with anxiety without consideration of why and what not.  Yes, Klonopin is used to treat anxiety, it's just usually not the first thing prescribed.  That was the only point I was trying to make.  No harm, no foul, just being friendly.  Hope you're doing well today.

I didn't say it was bad (or good) to take klonopin...enough people already talked about that  so i wantd to give cleanup something else to consider to be successful in the long run......I think it is ok(klonopin)..to get thru the first 5 days or so,.as i took xanax

Congrats on your 11 months...it takes whatever it takes...and we are all a little different in what helps and what doesn't ....keep on working it!!!!

please make sure you wean off when you are stopping the med if you're taking it around the clock or for a long period of time.  All of the benzo's, anti-dep, anti-anxiety meds can cause a rebound effect when stopped abruptly.  Hope it works for you.  As everyone mentioned it can be addicting, that's why valium is often used because it's a little less though.  The really good thing about both Valium and Klonopin is that Valium is often prescribed for muscular injuries and would help with the muscular aches associated with w/d and Klopopin is particularly good at alleviated restless leg syndrome.

I personally believe it is okay to take a small amout of valium, xananx, or kolonipin during the day to ease the WD symptoms. And take the Ambien at night to sleep. I had a huge hydro habit for over 4 years. I did not want to be on Methadone and Suboxone is very expensive and some people have to be on it for years or life. NO WAY not for me. I wanted to kick the drug habit/addiction so I made my mind up to do this on my own. I found no help from tapering or the Thomas Receipe sorry,  It just didn't help me at all. I was in full WDs for over 2 weeks I mean very BAD. I had to have some help from small amounts of xananx twice a day and then one ambien at night to sleep. This is what got me through!!! I stopped the xananx CT after about a month and took the ambien for 6 months. I am now hydro free for 11 months. I could not have done it without some tools and this forum.

Thank you very much. This means so much to me. I feel like I am so close to people I don't even know. i know it is because we all know what we are experiencing and really only us know that. Some one who hasn't been an addicted just wouldn't understand the difficulty as well. God Bless you! And I want you to know I am here for you to for whatever!! Take care

CleanUp: youre doing a GREAT job...keep hanging in there...you're almost to the other side.
Then comes the hard part(mental) ..staying clean. That is the recovery phase (aftercare) and is very important. We need to get to our core issues of why we used drugs to "feel good".  You can do this thru a support group(such as this forum), NA, seeing a counselor, etc. This is really important, as this disease is CUNNING, BAFFLING, and POWERFUL...and sneaks up on ya when you least expect it!

You need to have  a plan in place when your "triggers" (people, places, things, emotions) kick in......keep posting......we're here for you!!

When the "eye blink" & "clock thing" happens to me, that's when I'll shove a 1/2 ambien, or 1/2 xanix in my mouth, cuz I know I'm up for the rest of the day.  If I don't want to walk around like a zombie I need more sleep.

Sleep is the biggest problem for me and many others here.  After going 2 nights in a row with only about 2 or 4 hours total of sleep, I don't chance it anymore.  It wore down my immune system and with this winter weather, got a upper respiratory infection.  Lung illnesses are real common soon after detox.  Take care of U.

Yeah, that is what I took last night...I took 3 or maybe even 4 Tylenol PM's and I laid down to go to sleep at about 10:30 pm and then I swear I like blinked and it was 2:30 am. I tossed and turned after that.

I can only speak for the Ambien.  Good choice if you have access to it.  It would be good for the next couple of nights, as I'm sure you're experiencing the insominia.  After a couple of nights, try alternating w/something over the counter.  If 1 or 2 over the counter doesn't do it for me, I take 3.  I'm not recommending taking 3, I just telling you what works for me.

You will need the strength that a few hours of sleep will give you.  ZZZZZZzzzzzzzz

haha, yes I have actually thought that too. like maybe It is "mind over matter" and just keeping your mind occupied. I've held the fact that I am w/d from vikes w/my girlfriend but plan on telling her someday because she deserves to know the hardest thing and how proud I feel of myself. I just tell her its the flu. I plan on Day 4 (tomorrow) will be me just getting over the flu, u know?? and just lacking some energy but I have supplements for that

that woudl be col if u could factor in people's personalities also...what i mean by that is like my hubby and i w/d at the same time from the same drug and amount...he was able to function on day 3 i on the other hand was unable to get out of bed or eat or anything really.......i think peoples personalities play a big role in recovery....he was more upbeat and i was depressed....took me alot longer to get over w/d than it did him.....im still not over it.....maybe he just hides it well....lol.....sorry for rambling but that would be a cool thing to do.....if possible

Thats right, you've been clean. You know one of these days I want to figure out a mathematical equation for w/d durations and symptoms that depend on amounts taken and for how long. I will look into everyone's stories and try to compile up something and get back to you! God Bless

Put Epsom salts in the hot baths. It helps the muscles. Generic Immodium is 1/2 the price. Good Luck!

physically, I would say that I had some chills today (remember this is 3rd day c/t) and some aches but the hot baths fixed that. Anxiety was starting to get to me but I just took a klonopin to help for that. My roommate has scrip to those. And trust me I won't get hooked on those. I heard w/d from benzos are way worse than opiates. Just try the Thomas Recipe get vitamins and if you seem to have the runs, get ipodium at any Rite-Ait or walgreens. That helps. I would say it is about the same as I would expect it to be..not necessarily worse or better.

I started about 8 months ago when someone handed me a vicodin. I loved the feeling and we all know what happens after that. I went up to 7-10 vics and quit Friday(Feb 1) I am only twenty years old and do not want to depend on pills for the rest of my life because they will ruin the only things I love: Family, Friends, college, and most of all my loving girlfriend. I was once at my aunts and found vics and oxys. Heres the thing w/that....I took the vics and left the oxys because I realized how much more addicting those were. That was only 2 months into starting vics too. So at least I know I have some will power and the support from everyone here. It helps so much I just wanna cry..: (

But I keep my head up and I am going to keep posting, trust me!

Welcome to the forum!
Vicodin was my doc. You are doing good to be on day 3. Congrats! Klonopin will help ease the anxiety. Only use it a couple, three days. You are almost through the worst of it. Keep hanging on and keep posting. You will learn way more by being an active member here.

Yeah I started recreationally about 8 months ago. No surgery or anything. Someone just handed me the pill and I loved the feeling. I am only 20 years old too. Then I realized it was a problem. I am currently on day 3 but yours and everyone else's support helps so much and I really don't think I could do it without this help. How long have you been clean now? A week you say?

Pretty much the same as all recreational users. Started out with pot and it escalated to many other things. At first it was to be cool and be with the in crowd at school. Fast forward 18 yrs and started taking hydrocodone for the same reasons the rest of us abused it. It made me feel good, that turned to getting through the day. Starting falling apart at the seams and here I am trying to get clean and sharing my experience.
Thats about it.
You are doing the right thing by quitting this stuff. I was just telling Oxygirl that the first time I quit on here I made it 3 weeks. I relapsed about a week ago. In that 3 weeks i started seeing what I was missing but I still caved in because I didn't really want to quit forever. I learned from that and I really feel like I don't want to use them again and I want all those things back that I miss. Going 4 wheeler riding, going to the lake, camping, movies, going out to dinner, concerts,on and on and on. So I feel pretty good about it this time. Good luck to you, It is so worth it. It really is.

hopsing, your the man! I see your writings a lot and I see that you care about other peoples addiction, most obviously because you have dealt with the same thing. What is your story if you don't mind me asking?

Ok. Well if I went to my doctors about the klonopin, what should I say? I would feel really uncomfortable saying I was addicted to vicodin. Could I maybe just say I all the sudden have been feeling anxiety and having trouble sleeping?

Pretty sure it will but wait til someone who knows for sure answers. I took xanax for my anxiety. The Ambien should help you sleep. I also take that some nights for sleep.
