Any suggestions on relieving headaches and sleeplessness?

Hi, I am new here and looking for a little support as I decided to detox from vicoprofen and tramadol 2 days ago. Im not sure if it was a good idea to do both at once but here I am. Ive been on the two for migraines and neck pain for about 2 years and I knew they werent doing me much good all the way aroun. I noticed a difference in my life in every aspect and want to be the person I was before. I have faith in myself and I have done this completely on my own without anyone pushing me and I dont think anyone could have made me want to do this. You have to be willing to take the first step and I know I have done that so im hoping this si it. Any suggestions on how to get through any of these symptoms or make it a little easier? I can say to anyone going through this that it is very important to take vitamins and stay hydrated and anything you can to keep your mind busy has helped me wonders. Your body needs to start replacing all the vitamins you have lost and will also help with some of the depression. I take a supplement with all the b vitamins and it helps with energy and depression also with a multivitamin. I wish anyone else going through this the best of luck and keep your head up because every day is one step closer to feeling better .

Hi and welcome. Excedrin migraine might work but it also might make sleeping harder. I'd try Unisom sleepgels for the sleeplessness and if money is tight I'd try the walmart generic.

Over the years I've used TylenolPM for combination headaches and insomnia. Worked for me.

midrin helps with headaches and helps sleep. the only problem is that there is a SMALL potential for abuse...but let me tell u, it's very rare for even a severe addict to abuse these things.....they do help with sleep. excedrin also helps...no need to get excedrin migraine because it has the same things in it as regular excedrin but it costs more.

hydrocodone and tramadol are very very poor drugs for treating migraines. they really should only be used when nothing else works...and even then they are unlikely to have any effect. have you already tried triptans?

i mentioned midrin might help...but obviously this is an addiction forum and again, midrin does have a potential for abuse. it contains dichloralphenazone which is 2 parts chloral hydrate...around 65mgs per capsule. in my experience, it's far less habbit forming than excedrin....excedrin has a nice shot of caffeine in each dose (about 4 sodas worth)...so all the way around it's taking a chance. maybe the best bet is not to take anything for a while until you've gone through the physical withdrawals. then if you still have headaches, you should see a doc about other treatment options.

but i do advise staying away from anything containing butalbital...meds with this drug are very often prescribed for tension headaches/migraines....but it really is highly addicting.

Some ppl are allergic to triptans. I happen to be one of them. I suffered severe migraines for years and was on multiple meds for it both abortive type drugs and preventative type drugs. My dr tried me on Imitrex (triptan) and I ended up with my migraine getting worse 10x until I managed to sleep my way through it until the med wore off. it was hell. The only thing that worked for me was Topamax . My neurologist said that I got migraines and when I didn'tt have them I had tension headaches.  an MRI was normal.

I still get them but they seem to be hormone related. I'm not on any treament right now other than ibuprofen.
