Im very embarrased about this but I am 10 weeks pregnant and I have decided not to keep the baby due to personal really good reasons. some dont agree with abortion but I have my reasons so i  just ask for help not critisim. Before I found out I was pregnant I was taking Oxy recreationally. I quit when i found out i was pregnant and now that im not keeping the baby I would take it to kinda keep my mind off the pain of what had happened to make me not wanna keep the baby. Now im beggining to have second thoughts about aborting the baby but afraid that if i were to keep it that something would be wrong with the baby because of me taking the drugs. I read that the baby will show positive for the drugs and It will be taken from me and become a ward of state. Please can someone help me. I just need some info. The appt is scheduled for tomorrow  and i have to make my mind up in one day. I dont know what to do

They are right, if you stop now baby will more than likely be fine. I had to take meds with one of my little ones and she is fine, Healthy as a horse! One day isnt long enough to make a choice that big. If you want the baby and you are having doubts about it DONT DO IT ! Please pop in and let us know you are ok! and hang in there

also another afterthought here...dont make such a huge decision when you are numbed up on Oxy. You may think you wont be sad about an abortion when you are on the meds, but feel much different when not taking it...

i agree, 1 day is alot of pressure to make such a decision.
you're only 10 weeks, if you stop using, no one will ever know and the baby will be fine.
can't tell ya what to do, but whatever you decide, make sure you feel right with it. if you feel wrong or unhappy then it's probably the wrong decision. our emotions are our guidance on what is right and wrong for us - not the rest of the world pointing their finger.

I think you already know what you need to do. It burns in your heart and will make you or break you. If you stopped taking now YOUR baby will have his or her best chances. Talk to a doctor right away. Go to the ER if you have to. If you go to the Docs and or state first they are more likely to help you get through this than to take away your baby. But carry on like this and you will have a harder road to travel later. Remember this is what has happed to you because of bad judgemnent but not all your fault. But you are the one that is going to have to make things right again and that choice is up to you. You are not alone in this. Involve us, your family, and your friends that make you feel like trying to be a better person and it will help. You will look back 15 years from now and be so glad that you made the right choice. But the choice is yours and we can not make it for you.

also I forgot to add, Oxy wont have caused defects...it doesnt work that way. There are drugs out there that can cause birth defects but opiates dont. If you dont stop taking the drug, they baby can be born addicted to them however. Hon, if you are thinking of having an abortion just because you fear you have harmed your baby already beyond repair, DONT DO IT! Your baby will be just fine!!!

I dont know the rest of your circumstances but I really hope you think this through more before just going to your appt tomorrow with doubts in your mind and heart. If you go through with it tomorrow, you cant Un-DO it.  IF you wait and think it through you can still do it later if you must.   Just the fact that you are having doubts about the abortion tells me that you are just scared and uninformed about alot of things and fear of the unknown can make you do things you regret.

I hope that in 7 months from now you are holding a beautiful healthy newborn baby in your arms and falling in love with him/her so unimaginably much that you cant imagine life without them.

whoa slow down...just the fact you are having second thoughts, please cancel your appt for tomorrow!! You need more time to think about this hon. You dont want to do something in haste without thinking it through and regret it the rest of your life.
....and btw the baby wouldnt test positive for anything when born, you are only 10 W along! If that is your main fear, you have nothing to fear.
I know abortion is a very touchy subject and its hard for me to be objective... I have two precious little boys, age 4 and 2. They are my everything. Do you have any other children yet? how old are you? What is the reason you think you should have an abortion? you can private message me if you'd like.

You are very early in your pregnancy, and if you stop now, the chances are that the baby will be fine.

However, if you decide to keep the baby (and I hope you do), any you continue with the drugs, then you will have a problem. If the baby is born addicted--yes, it can be taken from you.

So, if you decide to keep the baby, then you need to come clean with your OBGYN immediately. I don't know know how much you are using, but it can be harmful to quit cold turkey. Also, they will need to know for when it is time to deliver. They see this everyday and they can be prepared.
